God Commissions Joshua

1 After the death of Moses the ^(A)servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' ^(B)assistant,

⁹ And Joshua the son of Nun was full of ^(A)the spirit of wisdom, for ^(B)Moses had laid his hands on him. So ^(C)the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.

^23 (A)And the Lord^[a] commissioned Joshua the son of Nun and said, ^(B)“Be strong and courageous, for you shall bring the people of Israel into the land that I swore to give them. ^(C)I will be with you.”

³ The Lord your God ^(A)himself will go over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, so that you shall dispossess them, and Joshua will go over at your head, ^(B)as the Lord has spoken.

^38 (A)Joshua the son of Nun, ^(B)who stands before you, he shall enter. ^(C)Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

¹³ So Moses rose with his assistant ^(A)Joshua, and Moses went up ^(B)into the mountain of God.

1 Paul, ^(A)a servant^[a] of Christ Jesus, ^(B)called to be an apostle, ^(C)set apart for the gospel of God,

⁴⁵ Our fathers in turn ^(A)brought it in with Joshua when they ^(B)dispossessed the nations ^(C)that God drove out before our fathers. So it was ^(D)until the days of David,

²⁵ He went in and stood before his master, and Elisha said to him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant went nowhere.” ²⁶ But he said to him, “Did not my heart go when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Was it a time to accept money and garments, olive orchards and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male servants and female servants? ²⁷ Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever.” So he went out from his presence ^(A)a leper, like snow.
