Dwelling Places of the Levites(A)

54 (B)Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements in their territory, for they were given by lot to the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites: 55 (C)They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its surrounding [a]common-lands. 56 (D)But the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 57 And (E)to the sons of Aaron they gave one of the cities of refuge, Hebron; also Libnah with its common-lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its common-lands, 58 [b]Hilen with its common-lands, Debir with its common-lands, 59 [c]Ashan with its common-lands, and Beth Shemesh with its common-lands. 60 And from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its common-lands, [d]Alemeth with its common-lands, and Anathoth with its common-lands. All their cities among their families were thirteen.

(A)And the children of Israel gave these cities with their common-lands by lot to the Levites, (B)as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses.

So they gave from the tribe of the children of Judah and from the tribe of the children of Simeon these cities which are [a]designated by name, 10 which were for the children of Aaron, one of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi; for the lot was theirs first. 11 (C)And they gave them [b]Kirjath Arba (Arba was the father of (D)Anak), (E)which is Hebron, in the mountains of Judah, with the common-land surrounding it. 12 But (F)the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as his possession.

13 Thus (G)to the children of Aaron the priest they gave (H)Hebron with its common-land (a city of refuge for the slayer), (I)Libnah with its common-land, 14 (J)Jattir with its common-land, (K)Eshtemoa with its common-land, 15 (L)Holon with its common-land, (M)Debir with its common-land, 16 (N)Ain with its common-land, (O)Juttah with its common-land, and (P)Beth Shemesh with its common-land: nine cities from those two tribes; 17 and from the tribe of Benjamin, (Q)Gibeon with its common-land, (R)Geba with its common-land, 18 Anathoth with its common-land, and (S)Almon with its common-land: four cities. 19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their common-lands.

11 They gave them Kiriath Arba(A) (that is, Hebron(B)), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.) 12 But the fields and villages around the city they had given to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.(C)

13 So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron (a city of refuge(D) for one accused of murder), Libnah,(E) 14 Jattir,(F) Eshtemoa,(G) 15 Holon,(H) Debir,(I) 16 Ain,(J) Juttah(K) and Beth Shemesh,(L) together with their pasturelands—nine towns from these two tribes.

17 And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave them Gibeon,(M) Geba,(N) 18 Anathoth(O) and Almon, together with their pasturelands—four towns.

19 The total number of towns(P) for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, came to thirteen, together with their pasturelands.(Q)
