¹¹ And should not I pity ^(A)Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much ^(B)cattle?”

²⁸ But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, ²⁹ but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might ^(A)celebrate with my friends. ³⁰ But when this son of yours came, ^(B)who has devoured ^(C)your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ ³¹ And he said to him, ‘Son, ^(D)you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. ³² It was fitting ^(E)to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother ^(F)was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”

^33 (A)And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’

² “Arise, go to ^(A)Nineveh, that ^(B)great city, and call out against it, ^(C)for their evil^[a] has come up before me.”

³⁹ And as for ^(A)your little ones, who you said would become a prey, and your children, who today ^(B)have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there. And to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.

¹⁰ When God saw what they did, ^(A)how they turned from their evil way, ^(B)God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
