Jonah 2:5-7

⁵ The water engulfed me up to the neck;^[a](A)
the watery depths overcame me;
seaweed was wrapped around my head.^(B)
6 I sank to the foundations of the mountains,^(C)
the earth’s gates shut behind me forever!^(D)
Then you raised my life^(E) from the Pit, Lord my God!^(F)
7 As my life was fading away,^(G)
I remembered the Lord,^(H)
and my prayer came to you,^(I)
to your holy temple.^(J)
