Jonah’s Prayer

¹⁷ Now the Lord provided^(A) a huge fish to swallow Jonah,^(B) and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish,^(A) so the Son of Man^(B) will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.^(C)

⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.”^(A) Jesus then left them and went away.

³⁰ For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.

⁶ Then the Lord God provided^(A) a leafy plant^[a] and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the plant.
