13 Nevertheless, the men rowed hard, trying to reach the shore. But they couldn’t, because the sea kept growing wilder against them. 14 Finally they cried to Adonai, “Please, Adonai, please! Don’t let us perish for causing the death of this man, and don’t hold us to account for shedding innocent blood; because you, Adonai, have done what you saw fit.” 15 Then they picked up Yonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped raging.

13 Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before.(A) 14 Then they cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord, do not let us die for taking this man’s life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man,(B) for you, Lord, have done as you pleased.”(C) 15 Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.(D)
