Jona im Bauch eines großen Fisches - Gebet und Rettung
2 Und der Herr bestellte einen großen Fisch, Jona zu verschlingen; und Jona war im Bauche des Fisches drei Tage und drei Nächte lang.
2 Und Jona flehte aus dem Bauch des Fisches zu dem Herrn, seinem Gott, und sprach:
3 Als mir angst war, rief ich zu dem Herrn, und er erhörte mich; aus dem Bauch der Hölle[a] schrie ich, und du hörtest meine Stimme!
4 Und doch hattest du mich in die Tiefe geschleudert, mitten ins Meer, daß mich die Strömung umspülte; alle deine Wogen und Wellen gingen über mich.
5 Und ich sprach: Ich bin von deinen Augen verstoßen; dennoch will ich fortfahren zu schauen nach deinem heiligen Tempel!
6 Die Wasser umringten mich bis an die Seele, die Tiefe umgab mich, Meergras umschlang mein Haupt.
7 Zu den Gründen der Berge sank ich hinunter; die Erde war auf ewig hinter mir verriegelt; - da hast du, Herr, mein Gott, mein Leben aus dem Verderben geführt!
8 Da meine Seele bei mir verschmachtete, gedachte ich an den Herrn, und mein Gebet kam zu dir in deinen heiligen Tempel.
9 Die Verehrer nichtiger Götzen verlassen ihre Gnade[b];
10 ich aber will dir mit lauter Stimme danken und dir opfern; was ich gelobt habe, das will ich bezahlen; das Heil kommt vom Herrn!
11 Und der Herr gebot dem Fisch; der spie Jona ans Land.

2 Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly,
2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

Jonah's Prayer
2 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2 saying,
(A)“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
(B)out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
(C)and you heard my voice.
3 (D)For you cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me;
(E)all your breakers and your waves
passed over me.
4 (F)Then I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
(G)yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
5 (H)The waters closed in over me (I)to take my life;
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 To the roots of the mountains I went down,
to the land whose bars closed upon me forever.
Yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord my God.
7 When my life was fainting away,
I remembered the Lord,
(J)and my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.
8 (K)Those who pay regard to vain idols
(L)forsake their hope of steadfast love.
9 (M)But I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
(N)Salvation belongs to the Lord!”
10 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
