Oración de Jonás
2 [a]Entonces Jonás oró al Señor su Dios desde el vientre del pez(A), 2 y dijo:
«En mi angustia clamé al Señor(B),
Y Él me respondió.
Desde el seno del Seol[b] pedí auxilio,
Y Tú escuchaste mi voz(C).
3 -»Pues me habías echado a lo profundo,
En el corazón de los mares,
Y la corriente me envolvió(D);
Todas tus encrespadas olas y tus ondas pasaron sobre mí(E).
4 -»Entonces dije: “He sido expulsado de delante de Tus ojos(F);
Sin embargo, volveré a mirar hacia Tu santo templo(G)”.
5 -»Me rodearon las aguas hasta el alma,
El gran abismo me envolvió(H),
Las algas se enredaron en mi cabeza.
6 -»Descendí hasta las raíces de los montes(I),
La tierra con sus cerrojos me ponía cerco para siempre(J);
Pero Tú sacaste de la fosa mi vida(K), oh Señor, Dios mío.
7 -»Cuando en mí desfallecía mi alma(L),
Del Señor me acordé(M);
Y mi oración llegó hasta Ti(N),
Hasta Tu santo templo(O).
8 -»Los que confían en ídolos vanos(P)
Su propia misericordia abandonan.
9 -»Pero yo con voz de acción de gracias
Te ofreceré sacrificios(Q).
Lo que prometí, pagaré(R).
La salvación es del Señor(S)».
10 Entonces el Señor dio orden al pez(T), y este vomitó a Jonás en tierra firme.

Dios Habla Hoy
La oración de Jonás
2 (2) Entonces Jonás oró al Señor su Dios desde dentro del pez, 2 (3) diciendo:
«En mi angustia clamé a ti, Señor,
y tú me respondiste.
Desde las profundidades de la muerte
clamé a ti, y tú me oíste.
3 (4) Me arrojaste a lo más hondo del mar,
y las corrientes me envolvieron.
Las grandes olas que tú mandas
pasaban sobre mí.
4 (5) Llegué a sentirme echado de tu presencia;
pensé que no volvería a ver tu santo templo.
5 (6) Las aguas me rodeaban por completo;
me cubría el mar profundo;
las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
6 (7) Me hundí hasta el fondo de la tierra;
¡ya me sentía su eterno prisionero!
Pero tú, Señor, mi Dios,
me salvaste de la muerte.
7 (8) Al sentir que la vida se me iba,
me acordé de ti, Señor;
mi oración llegó a ti en tu santo templo.
8 (9) Los que siguen a los ídolos
dejan de serte leales;
9 (10) pero yo, con voz de gratitud,
te ofreceré sacrificios;
cumpliré las promesas que te hice.
¡Sólo tú, Señor, puedes salvar!»
10 (2.1) Entonces el Señor dispuso que el pez vomitara a Jonás en tierra firme.

Jonah’s Prayer
2 [a]Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God (A)from the stomach of the fish, 2 and he said,
“I (B)called out of my distress to the Lord,
And He answered me.
I called for help from the [b]depth of (C)Sheol;
You heard my voice.
3 For You (D)threw me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the current flowed around me.
All Your (E)breakers and waves passed over me.
4 So I said, ‘I have been (F)cast out [c]of Your sight.
Nevertheless I will look again (G)toward Your holy temple.’
5 (H)Water encompassed me to the [d]point of death.
The (I)deep flowed around me,
Seaweed was wrapped around my head.
6 I (J)descended to the base of the mountains.
The earth with its (K)bars was around me forever,
But You have (L)brought up my life from [e]the pit, Lord my God.
7 While [f]I was (M)fainting away,
I (N)remembered the Lord,
And my (O)prayer came to You,
Into (P)Your holy temple.
8 Those who (Q)are followers of worthless [g]idols
Abandon their faithfulness,
9 But I will (R)sacrifice to You
With a voice of thanksgiving.
That which I have vowed I will (S)pay.
(T)Salvation is from the Lord.”
10 Then the Lord commanded the (U)fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.
