y fui atendido por él;
desde las profundidades
del reino de los muertos
pedí auxilio y tú me escuchaste.
4 Me arrojaste a las simas del mar,
sus corrientes me cercaron,
tu recio oleaje me arrolló.
5 Me dije: “He sido expulsado
lejos de tu presencia,
pero aún volveré a ver tu Templo santo”.
6 Las aguas me anegaron hasta el cuello,
el abismo me envolvía,
las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
7 Me hundí hasta el cimiento de los montes;
la tierra se cerraba tras de mí para siempre.
Sin embargo tú, Señor Dios mío,
me hiciste salir vivo de la tumba.
8 Estando ya sin aliento,
me acordé del Señor
y elevé hacia ti mi oración,
hacia tu santo Templo.
9 Los que adoran a ídolos vanos,
es que han olvidado tu amor.
10 Mas yo, con un canto agradecido,
te he de presentar sacrificios:
¡cumpliré lo que he prometido!
¡La salvación se halla en el Señor!
11 Entonces, el Señor dio instrucciones al pez y este vomitó a Jonás en tierra firme.
Jonah 2
New King James Version
Jonah’s Prayer and God’s Answer
2 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly. 2 And he said:
“Out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
And You heard my voice.
3 (C)For You cast me into the deep,
Into the heart of the seas,
And the floods surrounded me;
(D)All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.
4 (E)Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight;
Yet I will look again (F)toward Your holy temple.’
5 The (G)waters surrounded me, even to my soul;
The deep closed around me;
Weeds were wrapped around my head.
6 I went down to the [a]moorings of the mountains;
The earth with its bars closed behind me forever;
Yet You have brought up my (H)life from the pit,
O Lord, my God.
7 “When my soul fainted within me,
I remembered the Lord;
(I)And my prayer went up to You,
Into Your holy temple.
8 “Those who regard (J)worthless idols
Forsake their own [b]Mercy.
9 But I will (K)sacrifice to You
With the voice of thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have (L)vowed.
(M)Salvation is of the (N)Lord.”
10 So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
Jonah 2
English Standard Version
Jonah's Prayer
2 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2 saying,
(A)“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
(B)out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
(C)and you heard my voice.
3 (D)For you cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me;
(E)all your breakers and your waves
passed over me.
4 (F)Then I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
(G)yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
5 (H)The waters closed in over me (I)to take my life;
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 To the roots of the mountains I went down,
to the land whose bars closed upon me forever.
Yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord my God.
7 When my life was fainting away,
I remembered the Lord,
(J)and my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.
8 (K)Those who pay regard to vain idols
(L)forsake their hope of steadfast love.
9 (M)But I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
(N)Salvation belongs to the Lord!”
10 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land.
