2 Entonces Jonás oró así al SEÑOR su Dios desde el estómago del pez:
2 «Clamé a ti, SEÑOR, en medio de mi angustia
¡y me contestaste!
Desde las profundidades del sepulcro[a] pedí tu ayuda,
¡y me escuchaste!
3 »Me arrojaste a lo más hondo,
a lo más profundo del mar;
la corriente me envolvía,
y todas tus olas poderosas pasaban sobre mí.
4 Pensé: “Me has echado de tu presencia,
pero así y todo yo seguiré rogando hacia tu santo templo”.[b]
5 »Las aguas me envolvieron hasta el cuello,
estaba cubierto de mar por todas partes;
las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
6 Me hundí en el mar
hasta donde comienzan las montañas.
Bajé al mundo de los muertos
y tras de mí sus rejas se cerraron para siempre.
Pero tú SEÑOR, Dios mío,
me sacaste vivo de la fosa.
7 Al sentir que se me iba la vida,
me acordé del SEÑOR
y mi oración llegó hasta ti,
en tu santo templo.
8 »Los que adoran ídolos inútiles
han dejado tu fiel amor[c];
9 pero yo con gratitud te alabaré
y te ofreceré sacrificios.
Cumpliré la promesa que te hice.
¡La salvación viene del SEÑOR!»
10 Entonces el SEÑOR le ordenó al pez que vomitara a Jonás en tierra firme.

La oración de Jonás
2 (2) Entonces Jonás oró al Señor su Dios desde dentro del pez, 2 (3) diciendo:
«En mi angustia clamé a ti, Señor,
y tú me respondiste.
Desde las profundidades de la muerte
clamé a ti, y tú me oíste.
3 (4) Me arrojaste a lo más hondo del mar,
y las corrientes me envolvieron.
Las grandes olas que tú mandas
pasaban sobre mí.
4 (5) Llegué a sentirme echado de tu presencia;
pensé que no volvería a ver tu santo templo.
5 (6) Las aguas me rodeaban por completo;
me cubría el mar profundo;
las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
6 (7) Me hundí hasta el fondo de la tierra;
¡ya me sentía su eterno prisionero!
Pero tú, Señor, mi Dios,
me salvaste de la muerte.
7 (8) Al sentir que la vida se me iba,
me acordé de ti, Señor;
mi oración llegó a ti en tu santo templo.
8 (9) Los que siguen a los ídolos
dejan de serte leales;
9 (10) pero yo, con voz de gratitud,
te ofreceré sacrificios;
cumpliré las promesas que te hice.
¡Sólo tú, Señor, puedes salvar!»
10 (2.1) Entonces el Señor dispuso que el pez vomitara a Jonás en tierra firme.

2 1 [a]From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. 2 He said:
“In my distress I called(A) to the Lord,(B)
and he answered me.
From deep in the realm of the dead(C) I called for help,
and you listened to my cry.
3 You hurled me into the depths,(D)
into the very heart of the seas,
and the currents swirled about me;
all your waves(E) and breakers
swept over me.(F)
4 I said, ‘I have been banished
from your sight;(G)
yet I will look again
toward your holy temple.’(H)
5 The engulfing waters threatened me,[b]
the deep surrounded me;
seaweed was wrapped around my head.(I)
6 To the roots of the mountains(J) I sank down;
the earth beneath barred me in forever.
But you, Lord my God,
brought my life up from the pit.(K)
7 “When my life was ebbing away,
I remembered(L) you, Lord,
and my prayer(M) rose to you,
to your holy temple.(N)
8 “Those who cling to worthless idols(O)
turn away from God’s love for them.
9 But I, with shouts of grateful praise,(P)
will sacrifice(Q) to you.
What I have vowed(R) I will make good.
I will say, ‘Salvation(S) comes from the Lord.’”
10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

2 Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly,
2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
