9 耶稣过去的时候，看见一个人生来是瞎眼的。 2 门徒问耶稣说：“拉比，这人生来是瞎眼的，是谁犯了罪？是这人呢，是他父母呢？” 3 耶稣回答说：“也不是这人犯了罪，也不是他父母犯了罪，是要在他身上显出神的作为来。 4 趁着白日，我们必须做那差我来者的工；黑夜将到，就没有人能做工了。 5 我在世上的时候，是世上的光。” 6 耶稣说了这话，就吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和泥抹在瞎子的眼睛上， 7 对他说：“你往西罗亚池子里去洗。”（“西罗亚”翻出来就是“奉差遣”。）他去一洗，回头就看见了。 8 他的邻舍和那素常见他是讨饭的，就说：“这不是那从前坐着讨饭的人吗？” 9 有人说：“是他。”又有人说：“不是，却是像他。”他自己说：“是我。” 10 他们对他说：“你的眼睛是怎样开的呢？” 11 他回答说：“有一个人名叫耶稣，他和泥抹我的眼睛，对我说：‘你往西罗亚池子去洗。’我去一洗，就看见了。” 12 他们说：“那个人在哪里？”他说：“我不知道。”
法利赛人盘问医好的瞎子
13 他们把从前瞎眼的人带到法利赛人那里。 14 耶稣和泥开他眼睛的日子是安息日。 15 法利赛人也问他是怎么得看见的。瞎子对他们说：“他把泥抹在我的眼睛上，我去一洗，就看见了。” 16 法利赛人中有的说：“这个人不是从神来的，因为他不守安息日。”又有人说：“一个罪人怎能行这样的神迹呢？”他们就起了纷争。 17 他们又对瞎子说：“他既然开了你的眼睛，你说他是怎样的人呢？”他说：“是个先知。” 18 犹太人不信他从前是瞎眼、后来能看见的，等到叫了他的父母来， 19 问他们说：“这是你们的儿子吗？你们说他生来是瞎眼的，如今怎么能看见了呢？” 20 他父母回答说：“他是我们的儿子，生来就瞎眼，这是我们知道的。 21 至于他如今怎么能看见，我们却不知道。是谁开了他的眼睛，我们也不知道。他已经成了人，你们问他吧，他自己必能说。” 22 他父母说这话是怕犹太人，因为犹太人已经商议定了，若有认耶稣是基督的，要把他赶出会堂。 23 因此他父母说“他已经成了人，你们问他吧”。 24 所以法利赛人第二次叫了那从前瞎眼的人来，对他说：“你该将荣耀归给神，我们知道这人是个罪人。” 25 他说：“他是个罪人不是，我不知道。有一件事我知道：从前我是眼瞎的，如今能看了！” 26 他们就问他说：“他向你做什么？是怎么开了你的眼睛呢？” 27 他回答说：“我方才告诉你们，你们不听，为什么又要听呢？莫非你们也要做他的门徒吗？” 28 他们就骂他，说：“你是他的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。 29 神对摩西说话是我们知道的，只是这个人，我们不知道他从哪里来！” 30 那人回答说：“他开了我的眼睛，你们竟不知道他从哪里来，这真是奇怪！ 31 我们知道神不听罪人，唯有敬奉神、遵行他旨意的，神才听他。 32 从创世以来，未曾听见有人把生来是瞎子的眼睛开了。 33 这人若不是从神来的，什么也不能做。” 34 他们回答说：“你全然生在罪孽中，还要教训我们吗？”于是把他赶出去了。
耶稣收留被逐的瞎子
35 耶稣听说他们把他赶出去，后来遇见他，就说：“你信神的儿子吗？” 36 他回答说：“主啊，谁是神的儿子，叫我信他呢？” 37 耶稣说：“你已经看见他，现在和你说话的就是他。” 38 他说：“主啊，我信！”就拜耶稣。 39 耶稣说：“我为审判到这世上来，叫不能看见的可以看见，能看见的反瞎了眼。” 40 同他在那里的法利赛人听见这话，就说：“难道我们也瞎了眼吗？” 41 耶稣对他们说：“你们若瞎了眼，就没有罪了；但如今你们说‘我们能看见’，所以你们的罪还在。
羊圈的比喻
10 “我实实在在地告诉你们：人进羊圈，不从门进去，倒从别处爬进去，那人就是贼，就是强盗。 2 从门进去的，才是羊的牧人。 3 看门的就给他开门，羊也听他的声音。他按着名叫自己的羊，把羊领出来。 4 既放出自己的羊来，就在前头走，羊也跟着他，因为认得他的声音。 5 羊不跟着生人，因为不认得他的声音，必要逃跑。” 6 耶稣将这比喻告诉他们，但他们不明白所说的是什么意思。
主是羊的门
7 所以，耶稣又对他们说：“我实实在在地告诉你们：我就是羊的门。 8 凡在我以先来的都是贼，是强盗，羊却不听他们。 9 我就是门，凡从我进来的，必然得救，并且出入得草吃。 10 盗贼来，无非要偷窃、杀害、毁坏；我来了，是要叫羊[a]得生命，并且得的更丰盛。
主是好牧人
11 “我是好牧人，好牧人为羊舍命。 12 若是雇工，不是牧人，羊也不是他自己的，他看见狼来，就撇下羊逃走，狼抓住羊，赶散了羊群。 13 雇工逃走，因他是雇工，并不顾念羊。 14 我是好牧人，我认识我的羊，我的羊也认识我， 15 正如父认识我，我也认识父一样；并且我为羊舍命。 16 我另外有羊，不是这圈里的，我必须领它们来，它们也要听我的声音，并且要合成一群，归一个牧人了。 17 我父爱我，因我将命舍去，好再取回来。 18 没有人夺我的命去，是我自己舍的。我有权柄舍了，也有权柄取回来，这是我从我父所受的命令。”
19 犹太人为这些话又起了纷争。 20 内中有好些人说：“他是被鬼附着，而且疯了！为什么听他呢？” 21 又有人说：“这不是鬼附之人所说的话。鬼岂能叫瞎子的眼睛开了呢？”
22 在耶路撒冷有修殿节，是冬天的时候。 23 耶稣在殿里所罗门的廊下行走。 24 犹太人围着他，说：“你叫我们犹疑不定到几时呢？你若是基督，就明明地告诉我们。” 25 耶稣回答说：“我已经告诉你们，你们不信。我奉我父之名所行的事可以为我作见证， 26 只是你们不信，因为你们不是我的羊。 27 我的羊听我的声音，我也认识他们，他们也跟着我。 28 我又赐给他们永生，他们永不灭亡，谁也不能从我手里把他们夺去。 29 我父把羊赐给我，他比万有都大，谁也不能从我父手里把他们夺去。
主与父原为一
30 “我与父原为一。” 31 犹太人又拿起石头来要打他。 32 耶稣对他们说：“我从父显出许多善事给你们看，你们是为哪一件拿石头打我呢？” 33 犹太人回答说：“我们不是为善事拿石头打你，是为你说僭妄的话；又为你是个人，反将自己当做神。” 34 耶稣说：“你们的律法上岂不是写着‘我曾说你们是神’吗？ 35 经上的话是不能废的。若那些承受神道的人尚且称为神， 36 父所分别为圣又差到世间来的，他自称是神的儿子，你们还向他说‘你说僭妄的话’吗？ 37 我若不行我父的事，你们就不必信我。 38 我若行了，你们纵然不信我，也当信这些事，叫你们又知道又明白：父在我里面，我也在父里面。” 39 他们又要拿他，他却逃出他们的手走了。
40 耶稣又往约旦河外去，到了约翰起初施洗的地方，就住在那里。 41 有许多人来到他那里，他们说：“约翰一件神迹没行过，但约翰指着这人所说的一切话是真的。” 42 在那里信耶稣的人就多了。

医治盲人
9 耶稣在路上看见一个生来失明的人。 2 门徒问耶稣：“老师，这个人生下来便双目失明，是因为他犯了罪呢，还是他父母犯了罪呢？”
3 耶稣说：“不是他犯了罪，也不是他父母犯了罪，而是要在他身上彰显上帝的作为。 4 趁着白天，我们必须做差我来者的工作，黑夜一到，就没有人能工作了。 5 我在世上的时候，是世界的光。”
6 耶稣讲完后，便吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和泥抹在那盲人的眼睛上， 7 对他说：“到西罗亚池去洗洗！”西罗亚是“奉差遣”的意思。那盲人照着去做，回来的时候已经能看见了。
8 他的邻居和从前见他讨饭的人说：“他不是那个常在这里讨饭的人吗？”

17 于是，他们又问那个盲人：“既然祂开了你的眼睛，你认为祂是什么人？”
他说：“祂是先知。”
18 犹太人不相信他以前是瞎眼的，现在能看见了，便叫来他的父母， 19 问他们：“这是你们的儿子吗？你们不是说他生来就瞎眼吗？怎么现在能看见了？”
20 他父母回答说：“我们知道他是我们的儿子，生来双目失明。 21 至于他现在怎么能看见了，我们就不知道了。是谁医好了他，我们也不知道。他现在已经长大成人，你们可以去问他，他自己可以回答。”
22 他父母因为害怕那些犹太人，所以才这样说，因为那些犹太人早就商量好了，谁承认耶稣是基督，就把他赶出会堂。 23 因此他父母才说他已经长大成人，叫他们去问他。
24 法利赛人又把那个从前失明的人叫来，对他说：“你应该把荣耀归给上帝[a]！我们知道那个人是罪人。”
25 他说：“祂是不是罪人，我不知道；我只知道从前我是瞎眼的，现在能看见了。”
26 他们就问他：“祂向你做了些什么？祂是怎样医好你眼睛的？”
27 他回答说：“我已经告诉过你们了，你们不听，现在又问，难道你们也想做祂的门徒吗？”
28 他们就骂他：“你才是祂的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。 29 我们知道上帝曾对摩西讲话，至于这个人，我们不知道祂是从哪里来的。”
30 那人说：“祂开了我的眼睛，你们竟不知道祂从哪里来，真是奇怪。 31 我们知道上帝不听罪人的祷告，只听那些敬拜祂、遵行祂旨意者的祷告。 32 从创世以来，从未听过有人能把天生失明的人医好。 33 如果这个人不是从上帝那里来的，就什么也不能做。”
34 法利赛人斥责他：“你这生来就深陷罪中的家伙，居然敢教导我们！”于是把他赶了出去。
35 耶稣听说了这事，后来祂找到这个人，对他说：“你信上帝的儿子吗？”
36 他说：“先生，谁是上帝的儿子？我要信祂。”
37 耶稣说：“你已经看见祂了，现在跟你说话的就是祂。”
38 他说：“主啊！我信！”他就敬拜耶稣。
39 耶稣说：“我为了审判来到这世界，使瞎眼的可以看见，使看得见的反成了瞎眼的。”
40 有些跟祂在一起的法利赛人听了这句话，就问：“难道我们也瞎了眼吗？”
41 耶稣说：“如果你们是瞎眼的，就没有罪了。但现在你们自称看得见，所以你们的罪还在。”
好牧人
10 耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，不从门进羊圈而从别处爬进去的人就是贼，是强盗。 2 从门进去的才是羊的牧人， 3 看门的会给他开门，羊也听他的声音。他按名字叫自己的羊，把它们领出来。 4 领出来之后，自己便走在前面，羊群也跟着他，因为羊认得他的声音。 5 羊从不跟随陌生人，见了陌生人就逃跑，因为它们不认得陌生人的声音。”

21 又有些人说：“被鬼附身的人不会说这种话的，鬼能医好瞎眼的人吗？”
被犹太人弃绝
22 耶路撒冷庆祝修殿节的时候到了，是在冬天。 23 当耶稣走过圣殿的所罗门廊时， 24 一群犹太人围着祂说：“你让我们困惑、猜疑要到什么时候呢？如果你是基督，就清楚地告诉我们吧！”
25 耶稣回答说：“我已经告诉你们了，你们却不信。我奉我父的名所行的神迹也为我做见证， 26 只是你们不肯相信，因为你们不是我的羊。 27 我的羊听我的声音，我也认识他们，他们也跟随我。 28 我要赐他们永生，他们永不灭亡。没有人能从我的手里把他们抢走。 29 我父把羊赐给我，祂比万物都大，没有人能从祂手中把羊抢走。 30 我和父本为一。”
31 于是犹太人又拿起石头要打祂。 32 耶稣就问他们：“我将许多从父而来的美善之事显给你们看，你们为了哪一件事拿石头打我呢？”
33 犹太人回答说：“我们不是因为你做的善事打你，而是因为你说了亵渎的话，你是人，却把自己当作上帝。”
34 耶稣说：“你们的律法书上不是写着‘我曾说你们都是神’吗？ 35 圣经上的话是不能废的，既然上帝称那些承受祂道的人为神， 36 那么我是父分别出来又差到世上来的，我说自己是上帝的儿子，难道是亵渎吗？ 37 如果我不做我父的事，你们不必信我。 38 但如果我做了，你们纵然不信我，也应该相信我所做的事，这样你们就会知道、领悟父在我里面，我也在父里面。”
39 他们又要抓耶稣，但祂从他们手中逃脱了。
40 后来，耶稣到了约旦河东岸约翰从前施洗的地方，在那里住下来。 41 许多人来到祂那里。他们说：“虽然约翰没有行过神迹，可是约翰所说关于这人的事全是真的。” 42 在那里许多人信了耶稣。

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi,(A) who sinned,(B) this man(C) or his parents,(D) that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.(E) 4 As long as it is day,(F) we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”(G)
6 After saying this, he spit(H) on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”(I) (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.(J)
8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”(K) 9 Some claimed that he was.
Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”(L)
12 “Where is this man?” they asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said.
The Pharisees Investigate the Healing
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.(M) 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.(N) “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”(O)
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?”(P) So they were divided.(Q)
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”(R)
18 They(S) still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”
20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders,(T) who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out(U) of the synagogue.(V) 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”(W)
24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,”(X) they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”(Y)
25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
26 Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27 He answered, “I have told you already(Z) and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”
28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!(AA) 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”(AB)
30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.(AC) 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God,(AD) he could do nothing.”
34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth;(AE) how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.(AF)
Spiritual Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe(AG) in the Son of Man?”(AH)
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”(AI)
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”(AJ)
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.(AK)
39 Jesus said,[a] “For judgment(AL) I have come into this world,(AM) so that the blind will see(AN) and those who see will become blind.”(AO)
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”(AP)
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.(AQ)
The Good Shepherd and His Sheep
10 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.(AR) 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.(AS) 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice.(AT) He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.(AU) 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.(AV) 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech,(AW) but the Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them.(AX)
7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am(AY) the gate(AZ) for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me(BA) are thieves and robbers,(BB) but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[b] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,(BC) and have it to the full.(BD)
11 “I am(BE) the good shepherd.(BF) The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.(BG) 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.(BH) Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd;(BI) I know my sheep(BJ) and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father(BK)—and I lay down my life for the sheep.(BL) 16 I have other sheep(BM) that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock(BN) and one shepherd.(BO) 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life(BP)—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.(BQ) I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”(BR)
19 The Jews who heard these words were again divided.(BS) 20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed(BT) and raving mad.(BU) Why listen to him?”
21 But others said, “These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon.(BV) Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”(BW)
Further Conflict Over Jesus’ Claims
22 Then came the Festival of Dedication[c] at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade.(BX) 24 The Jews(BY) who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”(BZ)
25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you,(CA) but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,(CB) 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.(CC) 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them,(CD) and they follow me.(CE) 28 I give them eternal life,(CF) and they shall never perish;(CG) no one will snatch them out of my hand.(CH) 29 My Father, who has given them to me,(CI) is greater than all[d];(CJ) no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”(CK)
31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him,(CL) 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”(CM)
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law,(CN) ‘I have said you are “gods”’[e]?(CO) 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God(CP) came—and Scripture cannot be set aside(CQ)— 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart(CR) as his very own(CS) and sent into the world?(CT) Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?(CU) 37 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father.(CV) 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.”(CW) 39 Again they tried to seize him,(CX) but he escaped their grasp.(CY)
40 Then Jesus went back across the Jordan(CZ) to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed, 41 and many people came to him. They said, “Though John never performed a sign,(DA) all that John said about this man was true.”(DB) 42 And in that place many believed in Jesus.(DC)
