²⁴– Не будем ее рвать, – решили они, – бросим лучше жребий и посмотрим, кому она достанется.

Это случилось во исполнение сказанного в Писании:

«Они разделили между собой Мои одежды,
и бросали жребий о Моем одеянии»^[a].

Солдаты это исполнили.

²⁴“Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled^(A) that said,

“They divided my clothes among them
and cast lots for my garment.”^[a]^(B)
