John 9:35-41

New International Version

³⁵Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe^(A) in the Son of Man?”^(B)

³⁶“Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”^(C)

³⁷Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”^(D)

³⁸Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.^(E)

³⁹Jesus said,^[a] “For judgment^(F) I have come into this world,^(G) so that the blind will see^(H) and those who see will become blind.”^(I)

⁴⁰Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”^(J)

⁴¹Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.^(K)

³⁵Jesus heard that they had thrown him out. So when he found him, he asked him, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”^[a]

³⁶He answered, “And who is he, sir?^[b] Tell me,^[c] so that I may believe in him.”

³⁷Jesus told him, “You have seen him. He is the person who is talking with you.”

³⁸He said, “Lord, I do believe,” and worshipped him.

³⁹Then Jesus said, “I have come into this world to judge it, so that those who are blind may see and so that those who see may become blind.”

⁴⁰Some of the Pharisees who were near him overheard this and asked him, “We aren’t blind, too, are we?”

⁴¹Jesus told them, “If you were blind, you would not have any sin. But now that you insist, ‘We see,’ your sin still exists.”
