John 9:35-41

New International Version

³⁵Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe^(A) in the Son of Man?”^(B)

³⁶“Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”^(C)

³⁷Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”^(D)

³⁸Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.^(E)

³⁹Jesus said,^[a] “For judgment^(F) I have come into this world,^(G) so that the blind will see^(H) and those who see will become blind.”^(I)

⁴⁰Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”^(J)

⁴¹Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.^(K)

³⁵Jesus heard they had expelled the man born blind. Finding him, Jesus said, “Do you believe in the Human One?”^[a]

³⁶He answered, “Who is he, sir?^[b] I want to believe in him.”

³⁷Jesus said, “You have seen him. In fact, he is the one speaking with you.”

³⁸The man said, “Lord,^[c] I believe.” And he worshipped Jesus.

³⁹Jesus said, “I have come into the world to exercise judgment so that those who don’t see can see and those who see will become blind.”

⁴⁰Some Pharisees who were with him heard what he said and asked, “Surely we aren’t blind, are we?”

⁴¹Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you wouldn’t have any sin, but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.
