Curación de un ciego
9 Al pasar Jesús, vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento. 2 Y sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: Rabí[a](A), ¿quién pecó, este(B) o sus padres(C), para que naciera ciego? 3 Jesús respondió: Ni este pecó, ni sus padres; sino que está ciego para que las obras de Dios(D) se manifiesten en él. 4 Nosotros debemos[b] hacer las obras del que me envió mientras es de día(E); la noche viene cuando nadie puede trabajar. 5 Mientras estoy en el mundo, yo soy la luz del mundo(F). 6 Habiendo dicho esto, escupió en tierra(G), e hizo barro con la saliva y le untó el barro en los ojos, 7 y le dijo: Ve y lávate en el estanque de Siloé(H) (que quiere decir, Enviado). Él fue, pues, y se lavó(I) y regresó viendo(J). 8 Entonces los vecinos y los que antes le habían visto que era mendigo, decían: ¿No es este el que se sentaba y mendigaba(K)? 9 Unos decían: Él es; y otros decían: No, pero se parece a él. Él decía: Yo soy. 10 Entonces le decían: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos? 11 Él respondió: El hombre que se llama Jesús hizo barro, lo untó sobre mis ojos y me dijo: «Ve al Siloé y lávate». Así que fui, me lavé y recibí la vista(L). 12 Y le dijeron: ¿Dónde está Él? Él dijo*: No sé.
13 Llevaron* ante los fariseos al que antes había sido ciego. 14 Y era día de reposo el día en que Jesús hizo el barro y le abrió los ojos(M). 15 Entonces los fariseos volvieron también a preguntarle cómo había recibido la vista(N). Y él les dijo: Me puso barro sobre los ojos, y me lavé y veo. 16 Por eso algunos de los fariseos decían: Este hombre no viene[c] de Dios, porque no guarda el día de reposo(O). Pero otros decían: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer tales señales[d](P)? Y había división entre ellos(Q). 17 Entonces dijeron* otra vez al ciego(R): ¿Qué dices tú de Él, ya que te abrió los ojos? Y él dijo: Es un profeta(S). 18 Entonces los judíos(T) no le creyeron que había sido ciego, y que había recibido la vista, hasta que llamaron a los padres del que había recibido la vista, 19 y les preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Es este vuestro hijo, el que vosotros decís que nació ciego? ¿Cómo es que ahora ve? 20 Sus padres entonces les respondieron, y dijeron: Sabemos que este es nuestro hijo, y que nació ciego; 21 pero cómo es que ahora ve, no lo sabemos; o quién le abrió los ojos, nosotros no lo sabemos. Preguntadle a él; edad tiene, él hablará por sí mismo. 22 Sus padres dijeron esto porque tenían miedo a los judíos(U); porque los judíos ya se habían puesto de acuerdo(V) en que si alguno confesaba que Jesús[e] era el Cristo[f], fuera expulsado de la sinagoga(W). 23 Por eso sus padres dijeron: Edad tiene; preguntadle a él(X).
24 Por segunda vez llamaron al hombre que había sido ciego y le dijeron: Da gloria a Dios[g](Y); nosotros sabemos que este hombre es un pecador(Z). 25 Entonces él les contestó: Si es pecador, no lo sé; una cosa sé: que yo era ciego y ahora veo. 26 Le dijeron entonces: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos? 27 Él les contestó: Ya os lo dije(AA) y no escuchasteis(AB); ¿por qué queréis oírlo otra vez? ¿Es que también vosotros queréis haceros discípulos suyos? 28 Entonces lo insultaron, y le dijeron: Tú eres discípulo de ese hombre; pero nosotros somos discípulos de Moisés(AC). 29 Nosotros sabemos que Dios habló a Moisés, pero en cuanto a este, no sabemos de dónde es(AD). 30 Respondió el hombre y les dijo: Pues en esto hay algo asombroso, que vosotros no sepáis de dónde es, y sin embargo, a mí me abrió los ojos. 31 Sabemos que Dios no oye a los pecadores; pero si alguien teme a Dios y hace su voluntad, a este oye(AE). 32 Desde el principio jamás se ha oído decir que alguien abriera los ojos a un ciego de nacimiento. 33 Si este no viniera[h] de Dios, no podría hacer nada(AF). 34 Respondieron ellos y le dijeron: Tú naciste enteramente en pecados(AG), ¿y tú nos enseñas a nosotros? Y lo echaron fuera(AH).
35 Jesús oyó decir que lo habían echado fuera(AI), y hallándolo, le dijo: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo del Hombre[i](AJ)? 36 Él respondió y dijo: ¿Y quién es, Señor, para que yo crea en Él(AK)? 37 Jesús le dijo: Pues[j] tú le has visto, y el que está hablando contigo(AL), ese es. 38 Él entonces dijo: Creo, Señor. Y le adoró(AM). 39 Y Jesús dijo: Yo vine a este mundo para juicio(AN); para que los que no ven, vean(AO), y para que los que ven se vuelvan ciegos(AP). 40 Algunos de los fariseos que estaban con Él oyeron esto y le dijeron: ¿Acaso nosotros también somos ciegos(AQ)? 41 Jesús les dijo: Si fuerais ciegos, no tendríais pecado(AR); pero ahora, porque decís: «Vemos», vuestro pecado permanece(AS).

A cura de um cego de nascença
9 E, passando Jesus, viu um homem cego de nascença. 2 E os seus discípulos lhe perguntaram, dizendo: Rabi, quem pecou, este ou seus pais, para que nascesse cego? 3 Jesus respondeu: Nem ele pecou, nem seus pais; mas foi assim para que se manifestem nele as obras de Deus. 4 Convém que eu faça as obras daquele que me enviou, enquanto é dia; a noite vem, quando ninguém pode trabalhar. 5 Enquanto estou no mundo, sou a luz do mundo. 6 Tendo dito isso, cuspiu na terra, e, com a saliva, fez lodo, e untou com o lodo os olhos do cego. 7 E disse-lhe: Vai, lava-te no tanque de Siloé (que significa o Enviado). Foi, pois, e lavou-se, e voltou vendo. 8 Então, os vizinhos e aqueles que dantes tinham visto que era cego diziam: Não é este aquele que estava assentado e mendigava? 9 Uns diziam: É este. E outros: Parece-se com ele. Ele dizia: Sou eu. 10 Diziam-lhe, pois: Como se te abriram os olhos? 11 Ele respondeu e disse-lhes: O homem chamado Jesus fez lodo, e untou-me os olhos, e disse-me: Vai ao tanque de Siloé e lava-te. Então, fui, e lavei-me, e vi. 12 Disseram-lhe, pois: Onde está ele? Respondeu: Não sei.
13 Levaram, pois, aos fariseus o que dantes era cego. 14 E era sábado quando Jesus fez o lodo e lhe abriu os olhos. 15 Tornaram, pois, também os fariseus a perguntar-lhe como vira, e ele lhes disse: Pôs-me lodo sobre os olhos, lavei-me e vejo. 16 Então, alguns dos fariseus diziam: Este homem não é de Deus, pois não guarda o sábado. Diziam outros: Como pode um homem pecador fazer tais sinais? E havia dissensão entre eles. 17 Tornaram, pois, a dizer ao cego: Tu que dizes daquele que te abriu os olhos? E ele respondeu: Que é profeta.
18 Os judeus, porém, não creram que ele tivesse sido cego e que agora visse, enquanto não chamaram os pais do que agora via. 19 E perguntaram-lhes, dizendo: É este o vosso filho, que vós dizeis ter nascido cego? Como, pois, vê agora? 20 Seus pais responderam e disseram-lhes: Sabemos que este é nosso filho e que nasceu cego, 21 mas como agora vê não sabemos; ou quem lhe tenha aberto os olhos não sabemos; tem idade; perguntai-lho a ele mesmo, e ele falará por si mesmo. 22 Seus pais disseram isso, porque temiam os judeus, porquanto já os judeus tinham resolvido que, se alguém confessasse ser ele o Cristo, fosse expulso da sinagoga. 23 Por isso, é que seus pais disseram: Tem idade; perguntai-lho a ele mesmo.
24 Chamaram, pois, pela segunda vez o homem que tinha sido cego e disseram-lhe: Dá glória a Deus; nós sabemos que esse homem é pecador. 25 Respondeu ele, pois, e disse: Se é pecador, não sei; uma coisa sei, e é que, havendo eu sido cego, agora vejo. 26 E tornaram a dizer-lhe: Que te fez ele? Como te abriu os olhos? 27 Respondeu-lhes: Já vo-lo disse e não ouvistes; para que o quereis tornar a ouvir? Quereis vós, porventura, fazer-vos também seus discípulos? 28 Então, o injuriaram e disseram: Discípulo dele sejas tu; nós, porém, somos discípulos de Moisés. 29 Nós bem sabemos que Deus falou a Moisés, mas este não sabemos de onde é. 30 O homem respondeu e disse-lhes: Nisto, pois, está a maravilha: que vós não saibais de onde ele é e me abrisse os olhos. 31 Ora, nós sabemos que Deus não ouve a pecadores; mas, se alguém é temente a Deus e faz a sua vontade, a esse ouve. 32 Desde o princípio do mundo, nunca se ouviu que alguém abrisse os olhos a um cego de nascença. 33 Se este não fosse de Deus, nada poderia fazer. 34 Responderam eles e disseram-lhe: Tu és nascido todo em pecados e nos ensinas a nós? E expulsaram-no.
35 Jesus ouviu que o tinham expulsado e, encontrando-o, disse-lhe: Crês tu no Filho de Deus? 36 Ele respondeu e disse: Quem é ele, Senhor, para que nele creia? 37 E Jesus lhe disse: Tu já o tens visto, e é aquele que fala contigo. 38 Ele disse: Creio, Senhor. E o adorou. 39 E disse-lhe Jesus: Eu vim a este mundo para juízo, a fim de que os que não veem vejam e os que veem sejam cegos. 40 Aqueles dos fariseus que estavam com ele, ouvindo isso, disseram-lhe: Também nós somos cegos? 41 Disse-lhes Jesus: Se fôsseis cegos, não teríeis pecado; mas como agora dizeis: Vemos, por isso, o vosso pecado permanece.

9 And passing along, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach saw a man ivver (blind) from birth.
2 The talmidim of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach asked him, Rebbe, who committed averos, this man or the horim (parents) of him, that he was born ivver? [YECHEZKEL 18:20; SHEMOT 20:5; IYOV 21;19]
3 In reply, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, Neither this man sinned nor the horim of him, but that the pe’ulot of Hashem may be manifested in him.
4 It is necessary for us to work the pe’ulot of the One having sent me while it is Yom. Lailah comes when no one is able to work.[Jer 13:16] ]
5 As long as I am in the Olam Hazeh, I am the Ohr HaOlam.
6 Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva and he anointed the clay upon the man’s eyes,
7 And said to him, Go wash in the pool of Shiloach! [MELACHIM BAIS 5:10].‖The name means sent‖He went therefore and washed and came seeing. [YESHAYAH 35:5]
8 Therefore, the shchenim and the ones seeing the man who was formerly a betler, came, saying, Is this not the man who was sitting and begging?
9 Some were saying, This is the one! Others were saying, No, but it is a man like him. But the man was saying, I am the one!
10 Therefore, the people were saying to him, How, then, were your eyes opened?
11 In reply, the man said, The one called Yehoshua took clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to Shiloach [MELACHIM BAIS 5:10] and wash. Therefore, having gone, and having washed, I saw!
12 And they said to him, Where is that one? The man says to them, I do not have da’as of that.
13 The people lead the man to the Perushim…the man who had formerly been ivver (blind).
14 Now the time period Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach took the clay and opened his eyes was a Shabbos.
15 Then again also the Perushim were asking him how his eyes were opened, and the man said to them, The man placed clay on my eyes and I washed, and I see.
16 Therefore some of the Perushim were saying, This man is not from Hashem, because he is a Mechallel Shabbos (desecrator of Shabbos). But others were saying, How is a man who is a choteh (sinner) able to do such otot? There was a machloket (division of dissension) among them.
17 Therefore, they say to the ivver (blind man) again, What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes? And the man said, He is a Navi.
18 Therefore, those of Yehudah did not believe that the man had been ivver (blind) until they called the horim of the man whose eyes were opened.
19 And they asked the horim, saying, Is this the ben of you, whom you say was born ivver? How, therefore, does he now have sight?
20 In reply, therefore, his horim said, We have da’as that this man is the ben of us and that he was born ivver,
21 But how he sees now we do not have da’as nor do we have da’as of who opened his eyes. Interrogate him. He’s had his Bar Mitzvah (T.N. i.e., he is of age). He will speak for himself.
22 His horim said these things, because they were fearing those of Yehudah, for already those of Yehudah had agreed that if any person made hoda’ah (confession) of him to be the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, that person would be put under cherem ban from the shul.
23 Therefore, his horim said, He has reached his religious majority and is of age. Interrogate him.
24 They called a second time, therefore, the man who had been ivver (blind) and said to him, V’ten lo todah. (Give glory to G-d) [YEHOSHUA 7:19] We have da’as that this man is a choteh (sinner). [TEHILLIM 68:35; YEHOSHUA 7:19]
25 In reply, therefore, he said, If he is a choteh (sinner), of that I don’t have da’as. Of one thing I do have da’as, that though I was ivver, now I see.
26 They said, therefore, to him, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?
27 The man answered them, I told you already, and you do not listen. Why again do you want to hear? Surely you do not want to become his talmidim also?
28 And they reviled him and said, You are a talmid of that man, but we are talmidim of Moshe Rabbeinu. [BAMIDBAR 12:2,8]
29 We have da’as that Hashem has spoken to Moshe Rabbeinu, but this man, we do not have da’as from where he comes.
30 In reply, the man said to them, Here is a real cheftza! That you do not have da’as from where he comes, and he opened my eyes!
31 We have da’as that G-d does not listen to chote’'im (sinners), but if anyone has chassidus and yirat shomayim and does the ratzon (will) of Him, this one G-d hears. [TEHILLIM 18:23-32; 34:15 16; 66:18; 145:19-20; 51:7(5); MISHLE 15:8,29; YESHAYAH 1:15; 59:1-2]
32 Never vi-bahlt the Bri’at HaOlam (the Creation of the World) it was heard of that anyone opened the eyes of an ivver (blind man) having been born thus.
33 If this man was not from Hashem, he would not be able to do anything.
34 They answered and said to him, You were born totally B’AVON (in sin) and you teach us? And they threw him out. [TEHILLIM 51:5(7)]
35 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach heard that they threw him out, and, having found him, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, Do you have emunah (faith) in the Ben HaAdam?
36 In reply, the man said, And who is he, Adoni, that I may have emunah in him?
37 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he.
38 And the man said, Ani ma’amin, Adoni. And he fell down prostrate before him.
39 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, For the sake of Mishpat, I came into the Olam Hazeh, that the ones who are ivrim (blind ones) may see, and the ones seeing may become ivrim.
40 Some of the Perushim heard these things, the ones being with him, and they said to him, Surely we are not ivrim, are we?
41 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, If you were ivrim (blind men), you would not have chet, but now vi-bahlt (since) you say, We see, the chet of you remains.
