9 耶穌走路的時候，看見一個生下來就瞎眼的人。 2 他的門徒問他：“拉比，這人生下來就瞎眼，是誰犯了罪？是他呢，還是他的父母呢？” 3 耶穌回答：“不是他犯了罪，也不是他的父母犯了罪，而是要在他身上彰顯 神的作為。 4 趁著白晝，我們必須作那差我來者的工；黑夜一到，就沒有人能作工了。 5 我在世上的時候，是世界的光。” 6 說了這話，就吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和了一點泥，把泥抹在瞎子的眼睛上， 7 對他說：“你去西羅亞池洗一洗吧。”（西羅亞就是“奉差遣”的意思。）於是他就去了，洗完了，走的時候，就看見了。 8 那時，鄰居和以前常常見他討飯的人說：“這不是那一向坐著討飯的人嗎？” 9 有的說：“是他。”有的說：“不是他，只是像他。”他自己說：“是我。” 10 他們就問他：“你的眼睛是怎樣開的呢？” 11 他回答：“那名叫耶穌的人和了一點泥，抹在我的眼上，對我說：‘你去西羅亞池洗一洗吧。’我去一洗，就看見了。” 12 他們說：“那人在哪裡？”他說：“我不知道。”

13 他們就把那個從前瞎眼的人帶到法利賽人那裡。 14 耶穌和了泥開他眼睛的那一天，正是安息日。 15 法利賽人又問他是怎樣可以看見的。他告訴他們：“耶穌把泥抹在我的眼上，我一洗就看見了。” 16 有幾個法利賽人說：“那個人不是從 神那裡來的，因為他不守安息日。”另外有些人說：“一個罪人怎能行這樣的神蹟呢？”他們就起了紛爭。 17 他們再對瞎子說：“他既然開了你的眼睛，你說他是甚麼人？”他說：“他是個先知。”
18 猶太人不信他從前是瞎眼，現在才能看見的，於是把他的父母叫來， 19 問他們：“這是你們所說那生下來就瞎眼的兒子嗎？現在他怎麼又能看見呢？” 20 他的父母回答：“我們知道他是我們的兒子，生下來就瞎眼； 21 現在他是怎樣可以看見的，我們不知道；誰開了他的眼睛，我們也不知道。你們問他吧；他已經長大成人，可以替自己講話了。” 22 他的父母這樣說，是因為怕猶太人，原來猶太人已經定好了，不論誰承認耶穌是基督，就要把那人趕出會堂。 23 因此他的父母說：“他已經長大成人，你們問他吧。”
24 於是法利賽人第二次把那從前瞎眼的人叫來，對他說：“你應當歸榮耀給 神，我們知道這人是個罪人。” 25 那人回答：“他是不是個罪人，我不知道；我只知道一件事，就是我本來是瞎眼的，現在能看見了。” 26 他們就問：“他向你作了甚麼呢？他怎樣開了你的眼睛呢？” 27 他回答：“我已經告訴你們，但是你們不聽；為甚麼現在又想聽呢？你們也想成為他的門徒嗎？” 28 他們就罵他，說：“你才是他的門徒，我們是摩西的門徒。 29 我們知道 神曾對摩西說話；只是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裡來。” 30 那人對他們說：“這就奇怪了，他開了我的眼睛，你們竟然不知道他從哪裡來。 31 我們知道 神不聽罪人的祈求，只聽那敬畏 神，遵行他旨意的人。 32 自古以來，沒有人聽過生下來就是瞎眼的，有人可以開他們的眼睛。 33 這人若不是從 神那裡來的，他就不能作甚麼。” 34 他們說：“你的確是在罪中生的，還敢教訓我們嗎？”就把他趕出去。
35 耶穌聽見他們把他趕出去，後來遇見他的時候，就對他說：“你信人子嗎？” 36 他說：“先生，誰是人子，好讓我信他呢？” 37 耶穌說：“你已經見過他，現在跟你說話的就是他。” 38 那人說：“主啊，我信。”就向他下拜。 39 耶穌說：“我到這世上來是為了審判，使那看不見的能夠看見，能看見的反而成了瞎眼的。”
40 有些和耶穌在一起的法利賽人聽了這話，就說：“難道我們也是瞎眼的嗎？” 41 耶穌對他們說：“如果你們是瞎眼的，就沒有罪了；但現在你們說‘我們能看見’，所以你們還是有罪的。”

医治盲人
9 耶稣在路上看见一个生来失明的人。 2 门徒问耶稣：“老师，这个人生下来便双目失明，是因为他犯了罪呢，还是他父母犯了罪呢？”
3 耶稣说：“不是他犯了罪，也不是他父母犯了罪，而是要在他身上彰显上帝的作为。 4 趁着白天，我们必须做差我来者的工作，黑夜一到，就没有人能工作了。 5 我在世上的时候，是世界的光。”
6 耶稣讲完后，便吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和泥抹在那盲人的眼睛上， 7 对他说：“到西罗亚池去洗洗！”西罗亚是“奉差遣”的意思。那盲人照着去做，回来的时候已经能看见了。
8 他的邻居和从前见他讨饭的人说：“他不是那个常在这里讨饭的人吗？”
9 有人说：“是他。”有人说：“不是他，只是长得像他。”
他自己说：“我就是那个人。”
10 他们问：“你的眼睛是怎么好的？”

盘问复明的盲人
13 他们就把这个从前失明的人带到法利赛人那里。 14 耶稣和泥开他眼睛的那天是安息日。 15 法利赛人也查问他的眼睛是怎么复明的。盲人便对他们说：“祂把泥抹在我的眼睛上，我去一洗，眼睛就看见了。”
16 有些法利赛人说：“那个人不是从上帝那里来的，因为祂不守安息日。”有些人却说：“如果祂是个罪人，又怎能行这样的神迹呢？”他们就争论起来。
17 于是，他们又问那个盲人：“既然祂开了你的眼睛，你认为祂是什么人？”
他说：“祂是先知。”
18 犹太人不相信他以前是瞎眼的，现在能看见了，便叫来他的父母， 19 问他们：“这是你们的儿子吗？你们不是说他生来就瞎眼吗？怎么现在能看见了？”
20 他父母回答说：“我们知道他是我们的儿子，生来双目失明。 21 至于他现在怎么能看见了，我们就不知道了。是谁医好了他，我们也不知道。他现在已经长大成人，你们可以去问他，他自己可以回答。”
22 他父母因为害怕那些犹太人，所以才这样说，因为那些犹太人早就商量好了，谁承认耶稣是基督，就把他赶出会堂。 23 因此他父母才说他已经长大成人，叫他们去问他。
24 法利赛人又把那个从前失明的人叫来，对他说：“你应该把荣耀归给上帝[a]！我们知道那个人是罪人。”
25 他说：“祂是不是罪人，我不知道；我只知道从前我是瞎眼的，现在能看见了。”
26 他们就问他：“祂向你做了些什么？祂是怎样医好你眼睛的？”
27 他回答说：“我已经告诉过你们了，你们不听，现在又问，难道你们也想做祂的门徒吗？”
28 他们就骂他：“你才是祂的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。 29 我们知道上帝曾对摩西讲话，至于这个人，我们不知道祂是从哪里来的。”
30 那人说：“祂开了我的眼睛，你们竟不知道祂从哪里来，真是奇怪。 31 我们知道上帝不听罪人的祷告，只听那些敬拜祂、遵行祂旨意者的祷告。 32 从创世以来，从未听过有人能把天生失明的人医好。 33 如果这个人不是从上帝那里来的，就什么也不能做。”
34 法利赛人斥责他：“你这生来就深陷罪中的家伙，居然敢教导我们！”于是把他赶了出去。
35 耶稣听说了这事，后来祂找到这个人，对他说：“你信上帝的儿子吗？”
36 他说：“先生，谁是上帝的儿子？我要信祂。”
37 耶稣说：“你已经看见祂了，现在跟你说话的就是祂。”
38 他说：“主啊！我信！”他就敬拜耶稣。
39 耶稣说：“我为了审判来到这世界，使瞎眼的可以看见，使看得见的反成了瞎眼的。”
40 有些跟祂在一起的法利赛人听了这句话，就问：“难道我们也瞎了眼吗？”
41 耶稣说：“如果你们是瞎眼的，就没有罪了。但现在你们自称看得见，所以你们的罪还在。”

Orthodox Jewish Bible
9 And passing along, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach saw a man ivver (blind) from birth.
2 The talmidim of Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach asked him, Rebbe, who committed averos, this man or the horim (parents) of him, that he was born ivver? [YECHEZKEL 18:20; SHEMOT 20:5; IYOV 21;19]
3 In reply, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, Neither this man sinned nor the horim of him, but that the pe’ulot of Hashem may be manifested in him.
4 It is necessary for us to work the pe’ulot of the One having sent me while it is Yom. Lailah comes when no one is able to work.[Jer 13:16] ]
5 As long as I am in the Olam Hazeh, I am the Ohr HaOlam.
6 Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva and he anointed the clay upon the man’s eyes,
7 And said to him, Go wash in the pool of Shiloach! [MELACHIM BAIS 5:10].‖The name means sent‖He went therefore and washed and came seeing. [YESHAYAH 35:5]
8 Therefore, the shchenim and the ones seeing the man who was formerly a betler, came, saying, Is this not the man who was sitting and begging?
9 Some were saying, This is the one! Others were saying, No, but it is a man like him. But the man was saying, I am the one!
10 Therefore, the people were saying to him, How, then, were your eyes opened?
11 In reply, the man said, The one called Yehoshua took clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, Go to Shiloach [MELACHIM BAIS 5:10] and wash. Therefore, having gone, and having washed, I saw!
12 And they said to him, Where is that one? The man says to them, I do not have da’as of that.
13 The people lead the man to the Perushim…the man who had formerly been ivver (blind).
14 Now the time period Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach took the clay and opened his eyes was a Shabbos.
15 Then again also the Perushim were asking him how his eyes were opened, and the man said to them, The man placed clay on my eyes and I washed, and I see.
16 Therefore some of the Perushim were saying, This man is not from Hashem, because he is a Mechallel Shabbos (desecrator of Shabbos). But others were saying, How is a man who is a choteh (sinner) able to do such otot? There was a machloket (division of dissension) among them.
17 Therefore, they say to the ivver (blind man) again, What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes? And the man said, He is a Navi.
18 Therefore, those of Yehudah did not believe that the man had been ivver (blind) until they called the horim of the man whose eyes were opened.
19 And they asked the horim, saying, Is this the ben of you, whom you say was born ivver? How, therefore, does he now have sight?
20 In reply, therefore, his horim said, We have da’as that this man is the ben of us and that he was born ivver,
21 But how he sees now we do not have da’as nor do we have da’as of who opened his eyes. Interrogate him. He’s had his Bar Mitzvah (T.N. i.e., he is of age). He will speak for himself.
22 His horim said these things, because they were fearing those of Yehudah, for already those of Yehudah had agreed that if any person made hoda’ah (confession) of him to be the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach, that person would be put under cherem ban from the shul.
23 Therefore, his horim said, He has reached his religious majority and is of age. Interrogate him.
24 They called a second time, therefore, the man who had been ivver (blind) and said to him, V’ten lo todah. (Give glory to G-d) [YEHOSHUA 7:19] We have da’as that this man is a choteh (sinner). [TEHILLIM 68:35; YEHOSHUA 7:19]
25 In reply, therefore, he said, If he is a choteh (sinner), of that I don’t have da’as. Of one thing I do have da’as, that though I was ivver, now I see.
26 They said, therefore, to him, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?
27 The man answered them, I told you already, and you do not listen. Why again do you want to hear? Surely you do not want to become his talmidim also?
28 And they reviled him and said, You are a talmid of that man, but we are talmidim of Moshe Rabbeinu. [BAMIDBAR 12:2,8]
29 We have da’as that Hashem has spoken to Moshe Rabbeinu, but this man, we do not have da’as from where he comes.
30 In reply, the man said to them, Here is a real cheftza! That you do not have da’as from where he comes, and he opened my eyes!
31 We have da’as that G-d does not listen to chote’'im (sinners), but if anyone has chassidus and yirat shomayim and does the ratzon (will) of Him, this one G-d hears. [TEHILLIM 18:23-32; 34:15 16; 66:18; 145:19-20; 51:7(5); MISHLE 15:8,29; YESHAYAH 1:15; 59:1-2]
32 Never vi-bahlt the Bri’at HaOlam (the Creation of the World) it was heard of that anyone opened the eyes of an ivver (blind man) having been born thus.
33 If this man was not from Hashem, he would not be able to do anything.
34 They answered and said to him, You were born totally B’AVON (in sin) and you teach us? And they threw him out. [TEHILLIM 51:5(7)]
35 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach heard that they threw him out, and, having found him, Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, Do you have emunah (faith) in the Ben HaAdam?
36 In reply, the man said, And who is he, Adoni, that I may have emunah in him?
37 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is he.
38 And the man said, Ani ma’amin, Adoni. And he fell down prostrate before him.
39 And Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said, For the sake of Mishpat, I came into the Olam Hazeh, that the ones who are ivrim (blind ones) may see, and the ones seeing may become ivrim.
40 Some of the Perushim heard these things, the ones being with him, and they said to him, Surely we are not ivrim, are we?
41 Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach said to them, If you were ivrim (blind men), you would not have chet, but now vi-bahlt (since) you say, We see, the chet of you remains.
John 9
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
9 As He passed along, He noticed a man blind from his birth.
2 His disciples asked Him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he should be born blind?
3 Jesus answered, It was not that this man or his parents sinned, but he was born blind in order that the workings of God should be manifested (displayed and illustrated) in him.
4 We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s Light.
6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground and made clay (mud) with His saliva, and He spread it [as ointment] on the man’s eyes.
7 And He said to him, Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam—which means Sent. So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
8 When the neighbors and those who used to know him by sight as a beggar saw him, they said, Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?
9 Some said, It is he. Others said, No, but he looks very much like him. But he said, Yes, I am the man.
10 So they said to him, How were your eyes opened?
11 He replied, The Man called Jesus made mud and smeared it on my eyes and said to me, Go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and I obtained my sight!
12 They asked him, Where is He? He said, I do not know.
13 Then they conducted to the Pharisees the man who had formerly been blind.
14 Now it was on the Sabbath day that Jesus mixed the mud and opened the man’s eyes.
15 So now again the Pharisees asked him how he received his sight. And he said to them, He smeared mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I see.
16 Then some of the Pharisees said, This Man [Jesus] is not from God, because He does not observe the Sabbath. But others said, How can a man who is a sinner (a bad man) do such signs and miracles? So there was a difference of opinion among them.
17 Accordingly they said to the blind man again, What do you say about Him, seeing that He opened your eyes? And he said, He is [He must be] a prophet!
18 However, the Jews did not believe that he had [really] been blind and that he had received his sight until they called (summoned) the parents of the man.
19 They asked them, Is this your son, whom you reported as having been born blind? How then does he see now?
20 His parents answered, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.
21 But as to how he can now see, we do not know; or who has opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age. Ask him; let him speak for himself and give his own account of it.
22 His parents said this because they feared [the leaders of] the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should acknowledge Jesus to be the Christ, he should be expelled and excluded from the synagogue.
23 On that account his parents said, He is of age; ask him.
24 So the second time they summoned the man who had been born blind, and said to him, Now give God the glory (praise). This [a]Fellow we know is only a sinner (a wicked person).
25 Then he answered, I do not know whether He is a sinner and wicked or not. But one thing I do know, that whereas I was blind before, now I see.
26 So they said to him, What did He [actually] do to you? How did He open your eyes?
27 He answered, I already told you and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Can it be that you wish to become His disciples also?
28 And they stormed at him [they jeered, they sneered, they reviled him] and retorted, You are His disciple yourself, but we are the disciples of Moses.
29 We know for certain that God spoke with Moses, but as for this Fellow, we know nothing about where He hails from.
30 The man replied, Well, this is astonishing! Here a Man has opened my eyes, and yet you do not know where He comes from. [That is amazing!]
31 We know that God does not listen to sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and a worshiper of Him and does His will, He listens to him.
32 Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind.
33 If this Man were not from God, He would not be able to do anything like this.
34 They retorted, You were wholly born in sin [from head to foot]; and do you [presume to] teach us? So they cast him out [threw him clear outside the synagogue].
35 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and meeting him He said, Do you believe in and adhere to the Son of Man [b]or the Son of God?
36 He answered, Who is He, Sir? Tell me, that I may believe in and adhere to Him.
37 Jesus said to him, You have seen Him; [in fact] He is talking to you right now.
38 He called out, Lord, I believe! [I rely on, I trust, I cleave to You!] And he worshiped Him.
39 Then Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment [as a Separator, in order that there may be [c] separation between those who believe on Me and those who reject Me], to make the sightless see and to make those who see become blind.
40 Some Pharisees who were near, hearing this remark, said to Him, Are we also blind?
41 Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin; but because you now claim to have sight, your sin remains. [If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but because you insist, We do see clearly, you are unable to escape your guilt.]
