⁵⁹ Then ^(A)they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, ^(B)going^[a] through the midst of them, and so passed by.

⁸ The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to ^(A)stone You, and are You going there again?”

^30 (A)I and My Father are one.”

Renewed Efforts to Stone Jesus

³¹ Then ^(B)the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. ³² Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”

³³ The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for ^(C)blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, ^(D)make Yourself God.”

^39 (A)Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

The Believers Beyond Jordan

⁴⁰ And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place ^(B)where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed.

¹⁶ And whoever ^(A)blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death.

^29 (A)and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. ³⁰ Then ^(B)passing through the midst of them, He went His way.

³⁹ Now when they came up out of the water, ^(A)the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. ⁴⁰ But Philip was found at ^[a]Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to ^(B)Caesarea.

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;

³¹ Then Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.”

Therefore the Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,”

³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become ^(A)sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and ^(B)was hidden from them.
