³⁸ I speak of the things which I have seen ^[a]with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard from ^(A)your father.”

³⁹ They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is ^(B)our father.” Jesus *said to them, “^(C)If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham. ⁴⁰ But as it is, ^(D)you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has ^(E)told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do. ⁴¹ You are doing the deeds of ^(F)your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born as a result of sexual immorality; ^(G)we have one Father: God.” ⁴² Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, ^(H)you would love Me, ^(I)for I came forth from God and am here; for I have ^(J)not even come ^[b]on My own, but ^[c](K)He sent Me.

^21 (A)The one who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and ^(B)the one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will ^(C)reveal Myself to him.”

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, “^(A)If anyone loves Me, he will ^(B)follow My word; and ^(C)My Father will love him, and We ^(D)will come to him and make Our dwelling with him. ²⁴ The one who does not love Me ^(E)does not follow My words; and ^(F)the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
