35 A slave does not remain in the household forever,(A) but a son does remain forever.(B) 36 Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you really will be free. 37 I know you are descendants[a] of Abraham,(C) but you are trying to kill Me because My word[b] is not welcome among you.

35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.(A) 36 So if the Son sets you free,(B) you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me,(C) because you have no room for my word.
