²⁶ I have much to say about you and much to condemn, but the one who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.”^(A)

¹⁵ I do not call you servants^[a] any longer, because the servant^[b] does not know what the master is doing, but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.

⁴⁰ but now you are trying to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.

²⁸ Then Jesus cried out as he was teaching in the temple, “You know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on my own. But the one who sent me is true, and you do not know him.^(A)

⁴² But I know that you do not have the love of God in^[a] you. ⁴³ I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him.

³² He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony.^{(A) 33} Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified^[a] this, that God is true.^(B)

Warning against Falling Away

¹¹ About this^[a] we have much to say that is hard to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing. ¹² For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic elements of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food,^(A)

¹⁸ As surely as God is faithful, our word to you is not^[a] “Yes and No.”

⁸ for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me.^(A)

¹² “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.^(A)
