²⁰ He spoke these words while teaching^(A) in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put.^(B) Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.^(C)

³⁰ At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him,^(A) because his hour had not yet come.^(B)

⁸ You go to the festival. I am not^[a] going up to this festival, because my time^(A) has not yet fully come.”

The Widow’s Offering^(A)

⁴¹ Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put^(B) and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.

⁴³ Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.

⁶ The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.”

⁹ Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light.^{(A) 10} It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”

³⁹ Again they tried to seize him,^(A) but he escaped their grasp.^(B)

⁵⁹ At this, they picked up stones to stone him,^(A) but Jesus hid himself,^(B) slipping away from the temple grounds.

⁴⁴ Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.^(A)
