John 7:45-8:1

45 (A)The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?” 46 The officers answered, (B)“No one ever spoke like this man!” 47 The Pharisees answered them, (C)“Have you also been deceived? 48 (D)Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.” 50 (E)Nicodemus, who had gone to him before, and who was one of them, said to them, 51 (F)“Does our law judge a man without first (G)giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” 52 They replied, (H)“Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that (I)no prophet arises from Galilee.”

Common English Bible
45 The guards returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked, “Why didn’t you bring him?”
46 The guards answered, “No one has ever spoken the way he does.”
47 The Pharisees replied, “Have you too been deceived? 48 Have any of the leaders believed in him? Has any Pharisee? 49 No, only this crowd, which doesn’t know the Law. And they are under God’s curse!”
50 Nicodemus, who was one of them and had come to Jesus earlier, said, 51 “Our Law doesn’t judge someone without first hearing him and learning what he is doing, does it?”
52 They answered him, “You are not from Galilee too, are you? Look it up and you will see that the prophet doesn’t come from Galilee.”
