10 But when His (A)brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as though in secret. 11 (B)So the Jews (C)were looking for Him at the feast and saying, “Where is He?” 12 And there was a great deal of talk about Him in secret among the crowds: (D)some were saying, “He is a good man”; others were saying, “No, on the contrary, He is misleading the people.” 13 However, no one was speaking openly about Him, for (E)fear of [a]the Jews.

14 But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple area, and began to (F)teach. 15 (G)The Jews then were astonished, saying, “How has this man (H)become learned, not having been educated?” 16 So Jesus answered them and said, (I)My teaching is not My own, but His who sent Me. 17 (J)If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is of God, or I am speaking from Myself. 18 The one who speaks from himself (K)seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

19 (L)Did Moses not give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why are you (M)seeking to kill Me?” 20 The crowd answered, “(N)You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill You?” 21 Jesus answered them, “I did (O)one [b]deed, and you all are astonished. 22 For this reason (P)Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from (Q)the fathers), and even on a Sabbath you circumcise a man. 23 (R)If a man receives circumcision on a Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry at Me because I made an entire man well on a Sabbath? 24 Do not (S)judge by the outward appearance, but judge [c]with righteous judgment.”

Jesus at the Festival of Booths

10 But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private. 11 The Jews were looking for him at the feast, and saying, “Where is he?” 12 And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, “He is a good man,” others said, “No, he is leading the people astray.” 13 Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.

14 About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. 15 The Jews marveled at it, saying, “How is it that this man has learning,[a] when he has never studied?” 16 So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me; 17 if any man’s will is to do his will, he shall know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. 18 He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood. 19 Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?” 20 The people answered, “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?” 21 Jesus answered them, “I did one deed, and you all marvel at it. 22 Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man upon the sabbath. 23 If on the sabbath a man receives circumcision, so that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me because on the sabbath I made a man’s whole body well? 24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
