7 ¶ After these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea because the Jews sought to kill him.
2 Now the feast of the Jews, of the tabernacles, was at hand.
3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart from this place and go into Judea that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4 For no one who seeks to be clearly known does anything in secret. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.
5 For not even his brethren believed in him.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify of it that its works are evil.
8 Go ye up unto this feast; I go not up yet unto this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.
9 And having said these things unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
10 But when his brethren were gone up, then he also went up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast and said, Where is he?
12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him, for some said, He is a good man; others said, No, but he deceives the people.
13 But no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14 ¶ Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this man know letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If anyone desires to do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory, but he that seeks the glory of him that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do ye go about to kill me?
20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a demon; who goes about to kill thee?
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23 If a man on the sabbath day receives circumcision without the law of Moses being broken, are ye angry at me because I have made a man entirely whole on the sabbath day?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
25 Then one of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
26 But, behold, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Have the rulers truly understood that this is indeed the Christ?
27 But we know where this man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one shall know where he is from.
28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye know me, and ye know from where I come, but I have not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29 But I know him, for I am from him, and he has sent me.
30 Then they sought to take him, but no one laid hands on him because his hour was not yet come.
31 And many of the people believed in him and said, When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than these which this man has done?
32 The Pharisees heard the people that murmured such things concerning him, and the princes of the priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.
33 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I shall be with you, and then I shall go unto him that sent me.
34 Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be, ye shall not be able to come.
35 Then the Jews said among themselves, Where will he go that we shall not find him? Will he go unto the dispersed among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find me, and where I shall be ye shall not be able to come?
37 ¶ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any man thirsts, let him come unto me and drink.
38 He that believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this he spoke concerning the Spirit, which those that believe on him should receive, for the Holy Spirit was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Then many of the people, when they heard this word, said, Truly this is the Prophet.
41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall the Christ come out of Galilee?
42 Has not the scripture said, That the Christ comes of the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was?
43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
44 And some of them would have taken him, but no one laid hands on him.
45 ¶ Then the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees came, and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
46 The officers answered, Never has anyone spoken like this man.
47 Then the Pharisees answered them, Are ye also deceived?
48 Have any of the princes or of the Pharisees believed on him?
49 But this people who do not know the law are cursed.
50 Nicodemus said unto them (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them),
51 Does our law judge any man before it hears him and knows what he does?
52 They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see, for a prophet has never arisen out of Galilee.
53 And each one went unto his own house.

7 此后，耶稣在加利利周游，他不想去犹太，因为犹太人想杀害他。 2 当时，犹太人的住棚节 [a]快到了， 3 所以，耶稣的兄弟对他说∶“你应该离开这儿去犹太，以便让你的门徒看到你所行的神迹， 4 一个人如果想让自己被众所周知，就不在暗中做事。你即然在做这些事，就在世人面前表现出来吧。” 5 （甚至连耶稣的兄弟们也不信仰他。） 6 耶稣对他们说∶“我的时刻还没有到，但是对你们随时都合适。 7 世人不会恨你们，但却恨我，因为我不停地告诉世人，他们的行为是邪恶的。 8 你们去过住棚节吧，我现在不去，因为我的时刻还没到。” 9 耶稣说完这番话后，继续留在了加利利。
10 他的兄弟去过住棚节了，耶稣也去了，不过不是公开去的，而是秘密去的。 11 犹太首领在节日里到处寻找他，打听说∶“那人在哪里呢？”
12 人们私下对耶稣议论纷纷，有人说∶“他是好人。”也有人说∶“根本不是，他迷惑群众。” 13 不过，没有人敢公开议论他，因为他们都害怕犹太首领。
耶稣在耶路撒冷教导人们
14 节日过了一半时，耶稣来到大殿院开始教导人们。 15 犹太首领都很吃惊，说∶“这人从未上过学，怎么会知道这么多事情呢？”
16 耶稣回答他们说∶“我教导的不是我自己的教导，而是来自于派遣我的上帝。 17 一个人如果想执行上帝的意旨，他就会明白我的教导是出自上帝还是出自我自己。 18 凭自己讲话的人，企图为自己获得荣耀；但是，要把荣耀带给派遣他来的那位的人－是可信的，他心中没有丝毫虚假。 19 难道摩西没有把律法 [b]颁布给你们吗？可是你们谁也不遵守它。你们为什么想杀害我呢？”
20 人群回答道∶“你一定是被鬼附身了！谁想要杀害你呢？”
21 耶稣回答说∶“我不过显示了一个奇迹，你们就感到惊讶。 22 摩西出于同样的目的，给了你们有关割礼的律法，（其实割礼是你们的祖先传下来的，而不是摩西传下来的。）你们就在安息日为婴儿施行割礼！ 23 既然一个人能在安息日受割礼，以便不违反摩西律法，那么我在安息日治好一个人的整个身体，为什么你们就对我感到愤怒呢？ 24 不要以外表来评判，而要做出公正的评判。”
人们猜测耶稣是基督吗？
25 一些耶路撒冷人开始议论说∶“这不是他们想要杀的那个人吗？ 26 看，他在大庭广众之下演讲，他们对他却一言不发。也许首领们的确知道他是基督呢？ 27 不过，我们知道这人是从哪儿来的；当基督来临的时候，没有人知道他从哪儿来。”
28 这时，耶稣还在大殿院里教导，他高声说∶“你们认识我，也知道我从哪里来，我不是自己到这里来的，派遣我来的那位（上帝）是真实的。你们不认识他， 29 但我认识他，因为我是从他那里来的，是他派我来的。”
30 听到这里，他们想要逮捕耶稣，可是却没有下手，因为他的时刻还没有到呢。不过，还是有很多人信仰了他， 31 他们说∶“就是基督来了，也不会比这个人显示更多的奇迹，不是吗？”
犹太首领企图逮捕耶稣
32 法利赛人听到人们私下对耶稣的议论，祭司长和法利赛人便派大殿的卫兵去逮捕他。耶稣说： 33 “我和你们在一起的时间非常短暂了，然后我就要回到派我来的那位那里去。 34 你们会寻找我，但是却找不到我，因为我去的地方，你们不能去。”
35 犹太人互相议论道∶“他要到哪里去能让我们找不到呢？他是不是到散居在非犹太人城市里的犹太侨民那里，去教导非犹太人呢？ 36 他说∶‘你们将会寻找我，但是却找不到我，因为我去的地方，你们不能去。’这话是什么意思呢？”
耶稣谈圣灵
37 节日的最后一天，也是最重要的一天，耶稣站起来高声说∶“如果有人渴了，就到我这里来喝水吧， 38 就像《经》上所说的那样，信仰我的人，活水的河流就会从他内心源源流出。” 39 耶稣这话是指那些信仰他的人，以后会领受到圣灵。当时圣灵还没赐给人们，因为耶稣还没有得到荣耀。
人们针对耶稣的争论
40 听了这些话，人群中的一些人开始议论说∶“这人真的是先知。”
41 另外一些人说∶“这人是基督。”
还有一些人说∶“基督怎么会来自加利利呢？ 42 《经》上不是说基督是大卫的后裔，来自于大卫住过的伯利恒吗？” 43 由于耶稣，人们发生了分歧。 44 有些人想逮捕耶稣，但却没有人动手。
犹太首领拒不相信
45 于是，大殿的卫兵回到祭司长和法利赛人那里去了，他们问卫兵∶“你们为什么没把他带来？”
46 卫兵们回答说∶“从来没有人像这样讲过话！”
47 法利赛人说∶“难道你们也被愚弄了吗？ 48 有首领或是法利赛人信仰他吗？ 49 那些不知律法的人是要受到诅咒的！”
50 尼哥底母 [c]对他们说： 51 “不先听他的口供，不调查他做了些什么，我们的律法能定他的罪吗？”
52 他们回答他说∶“难道你也是从加利利来的吗？查考一下《经》，你就会明白加利利没有出过先知。”

53 然后他们分手各自回家去了。
