¹⁵ The Jews^(A) there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning^(B) without having been taught?”^(C)

²² All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.^(A)

⁵⁴ Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue,^(A) and they were amazed.^(B) “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.

²⁸ When Jesus had finished saying these things,^(A) the crowds were amazed at his teaching,^{(B) 29} because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

²⁴ At this point Festus interrupted Paul’s defense. “You are out of your mind,^(A) Paul!” he shouted. “Your great learning^(B) is driving you insane.”

⁴⁶ “No one ever spoke the way this man does,”^(A) the guards replied.

⁴⁷ Everyone who heard him was amazed^(A) at his understanding and his answers.

²² When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.^(A)

¹¹ Jesus is

¹² Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”^(B)

⁷ Utterly amazed,^(A) they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?^{(B) 8} Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? ⁹ Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,^(C) Pontus^(D) and Asia,^{[a](E) 10} Phrygia^(F) and Pamphylia,^(G) Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene;^(H) visitors from Rome ¹¹ (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” ¹² Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
