Jesus’ Brothers Disbelieve

7 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, ^(A)because the ^[a]Jews sought to kill Him.

Honor the Father and the Son

¹⁶ For this reason the Jews ^(A)persecuted Jesus, ^[a]and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. ¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, ^(B)“My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”

¹⁸ Therefore the Jews ^(C)sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, ^(D)making Himself equal with God.

³ He left Judea and departed again to Galilee.

³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, ^(A)‘This is the heir. ^(B)Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.’

^19 (A)Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? ^(B)Why do you seek to kill Me?”

^23 (A)When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have ^(B)gone through the cities of Israel ^(C)before the Son of Man comes.

³⁸ how ^(A)God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who ^(B)went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, ^(C)for God was with Him.

^39 (A)Therefore they sought again to seize Him, but He escaped out of their hand.

The Believers Beyond Jordan

⁴⁰ And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place ^(B)where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed.

⁵⁴ This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.

A Voice in the Wilderness^(A)

¹⁹ Now this is ^(B)the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
