⁷ Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages^[a] to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”

³⁷ But he answered, “You give them something to eat.”^(A)

They said to him, “That would take more than half a year’s wages^[a]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?”

²¹ But Moses said, “Here I am among six hundred thousand men^(A) on foot, and you say, ‘I will give them meat to eat for a whole month!’ ²² Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?”^(B)

⁵ “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.^[a]”

⁴³ “How can I set this before a hundred men?” his servant asked.

But Elisha answered, “Give it to the people to eat.^(A) For this is what the Lord says: ‘They will eat and have some left over.^(B)’”

²⁸ “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.^[a] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
