⁶ He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.

Abraham Tested

22 Some time later God tested^(A) Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”

“Here I am,”^(B) he replied.

³¹ But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon^(A) to ask him about the miraculous sign^(B) that had occurred in the land, God left him to test^(C) him and to know everything that was in his heart.

³ you must not listen to the words of that prophet^(A) or dreamer.^(B) The Lord your God is testing^(C) you to find out whether you love^(D) him with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁶ He gave you manna^(A) to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known,^(B) to humble and test^(C) you so that in the end it might go well with you.
