⁵⁴ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.^(A)

³⁹ And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me,^(A) but raise them up at the last day.^{(B) 40} For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son^(C) and believes in him shall have eternal life,^(D) and I will raise them up at the last day.”

⁷ But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss^(A) for the sake of Christ. ⁸ What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing^(B) Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ^{(C) 9} and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law,^(D) but that which is through faith in^[a] Christ—the righteousness^(E) that comes from God on the basis of faith.^{(F) 10} I want to know^(G) Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings,^(H) becoming like him in his death,^(I)

⁶³ The Spirit gives life;^(A) the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit^[a] and life.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ^(A) and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.^(B) The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,^(C) who loved me^(D) and gave himself for me.^(E)

⁴⁷ Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.^(A)
