³⁸ for I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.^(A)

Witnesses to Jesus

³⁰ “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.^(A)

³⁴ Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.^(A)

The One Who Comes from Heaven

³¹ The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all.^(A)

³³ For the bread of God is that which^[a] comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”^(A)

¹³ No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.^[a](A)

³⁹ And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me, yet not what I want but what you want.”^{(A) 40} Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?^{(B) 41} Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial;^[a] the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”^{(C) 42} Again he went away for the second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”^(D)
