³⁵ And Jesus said to them, ^(A)“I am the bread of life. ^(B)He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never ^(C)thirst.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and ^(A)the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” ^(B)And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

^48 (A)I am the bread of life. ^49 (B)Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ^50 (C)This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread ^(D)which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and ^(E)the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

⁵² The Jews therefore ^(F)quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless ^(G)you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. ^54 (H)Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For My flesh is ^[a]food indeed, and My blood is ^[b]drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood ^(I)abides in Me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. ^58 (J)This is the bread which came down from heaven—not ^(K)as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

^37 (A)On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ^(B)“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. ^38 (C)He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, ^(D)out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Rejected by His Own

⁴¹ The Jews then ^[a]complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”

¹³ Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, ¹⁴ but ^(A)whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him ^(B)will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
