John 5:16-18
World English Bible
16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.” 18 For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

International Standard Version
16 So the Jewish leaders[a] began persecuting Jesus,[b] because he kept doing such things on the Sabbath.
17 But Jesus[c] answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I, too, am working.” 18 So the Jewish leaders[d] were trying all the harder to kill him, because he was not only breaking the Sabbath but was also calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God.
