⁴⁴ How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?^[a](A)

²⁹ Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not the written code. Such a person receives praise not from humans but from God.^(A)

⁴³ for they loved human glory more than the glory that comes from God.

³ Do nothing from selfish ambition or empty conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves.^(A)

⁷ so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.^(A)

⁵ They do all their deeds to be seen by others, for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long.^(A)

⁷ For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law—indeed, it cannot,^{(A) 8} and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

⁵ Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.^(A)

¹⁰ but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, both the Jew first and the Greek.
