⁴³ I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; if another comes in his own name, you will accept him.

²⁵ Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me,^(A)

⁵ For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah!’^[a] and they will lead many astray.

⁴ And one does not presume to take this honor but takes it only when called by God, just as Aaron was.^(A)

⁵ So also Christ did not glorify himself in becoming a high priest but was appointed by^[a] the one who said to him,

⁴ I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do.^{(A) 5} So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed.^(B)

⁶ “I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.^(C)

³⁸ for I have come down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.^(A)

²⁸ So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he^[a] and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me.^{(A) 29} And the one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him.”^(B)

³⁶ For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him, but he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and disappeared. ³⁷ After him Judas the Galilean rose up at the time of the census and got people to follow him; he also perished, and all who followed him were scattered.

²⁸ Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”^(A)

¹⁶ “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.^(A)
