³⁸ But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.

⁴⁴ Then Jesus cried out and said, ^(A)“He who believes in Me, ^(B)believes not in Me ^(C)but in Him who sent Me. ⁴⁵ And ^(D)he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. ^46 (E)I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. ⁴⁷ And if anyone hears My words and does not ^[a]believe, ^(F)I do not judge him; for ^(G)I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. ^48 (H)He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—^(I)the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

⁶ “And ^(A)these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. ^7 (B)You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. ^8 (C)You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. ^9 (D)You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Doers—Not Hearers Only

²¹ Therefore ^(A)lay aside all filthiness and ^[a]overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, ^(B)which is able to save your souls.

²² But ^(C)be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words ^(A)abide in you, ^(B)you^[a] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

⁴⁶ Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? ^47 (A)He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
