³⁸ nor does his word dwell in you,^(A) for you do not believe^(B) the one he sent.^(C)

⁴⁴ Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.^{(A) 45} The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.^{(B) 46} I have come into the world as a light,^(C) so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

⁴⁷ “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.^{(D) 48} There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them^(E) at the last day.

⁶ These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.^{(A) 7} Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.^{(B) 8} Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.^{(C) 9} Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.^(D)

²¹ Therefore, get rid of^(A) all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you,^(B) which can save you.

²² Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.^(C)

⁷ If you remain in me^(A) and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.^(B)

⁴⁶ Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? ⁴⁷ Whoever belongs to God hears what God says.^(A) The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me,^(A) because you have no room for my word.

⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.^{(A) 47} But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”^(B)
