³² There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that his testimony to me is true.^(A)

Testimony concerning the Son of God

⁶ This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth.^{(A) 7} There are three that testify:^{[a](B) 8} the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree. ⁹ If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son.^(C)

⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me.”

²⁸ Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”^{(A) 29} The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” ³⁰ Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine.

¹⁷ In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid.^{(A) 18} I testify on my own behalf, and the Father who sent me testifies on my behalf.”^(B)

³⁶ But I have a testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.^{(A) 37} And the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen his form,^(B)

³³ I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’^(A)

²² and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved;^[a] with you I am well pleased.”^[b](A)

⁵ While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, the Beloved;^[a] with him I am well pleased; listen to him!”^(A)
