Jesus Heals a Royal Official’s Son

46 Then He came again to (A)Cana of Galilee (B)where He had made the water wine. And there was a royal official whose son was sick at (C)Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus had come (D)out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and was asking Him to come down and heal his son; for he was about to die. 48 So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see [a](E)signs and (F)wonders, you will never believe.” 49 The royal official *said to Him, “[b]Sir, come down before my child dies.” 50 Jesus *said to him, (G)Go; your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way. 51 And while he was still going down, his slaves met him, saying that his [c]son was alive. 52 So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. Then they said to him, “Yesterday at the [d]seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives”; and he himself believed and (H)his whole household. 54 This is again a (I)second [e]sign that Jesus did when He had (J)come out of Judea into Galilee.

46 Jesus came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.

In Capernaum, there was a certain royal official whose son was sick. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and heal his son, because his son was about to die.

48 Jesus told him, “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you certainly will not believe.”

49 The royal official said to him, “Lord, come down before my little boy dies.”

50 “Go,” Jesus told him, “your son is going to live.”

The man believed this word that Jesus spoke to him and left.

51 Already as he was going down, his servants met him with the news that his boy was going to live. 52 So he asked them what time his son got better. They told him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour[a] the fever left him.” 53 Then the father realized that was the exact time when Jesus had told him, “Your son is going to live.” And he himself and his whole household believed.

54 This was the second miraculous sign Jesus did after he came from Judea into Galilee.
