⁸ (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.)

³⁹ Many Samaritans ^(A)from that town believed in him ^(B)because of ^(C)the woman's testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.”

⁵ So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field ^(A)that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.

¹³ But he said to them, ^(A)“You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than ^(B)five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”

^5 (A)Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to ^(B)Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” ⁶ He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. ^7 (C)Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii^[a] worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”
