⁴³ After ^(A)the two days he departed for Galilee.

Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles

⁸ For I tell you that Christ ^(A)became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness, in order ^(B)to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs,

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.

²⁷ And he said to her, “Let the children be ^(A)fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and ^(B)throw it to the dogs.” ²⁸ But she answered him, “Yes, Lord; yet even the dogs under the table eat the children's ^(C)crumbs.”

The Faith of a Canaanite Woman

^21 (A)And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. ²² And behold, ^(B)a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, ^(C)“Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” ²³ But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, ^(D)“Send her away, for she is crying out after us.” ²⁴ He answered, ^(E)“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

¹³ And leaving ^(A)Nazareth he went and lived in ^(B)Capernaum by ^(C)the sea, in the territory of ^(D)Zebulun and Naphtali,

Jesus Heals an Official's Son

⁴⁶ So he came again to ^(A)Cana in Galilee, ^(B)where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill.

⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^(A)John. You shall be called ^(B)Cephas” (which means ^(C)Peter^[a]).
