⁴² They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”^(A)

¹⁴ And we have seen and testify^(A) that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.^(B)

²⁰ We know also that the Son of God has come^(A) and has given us understanding,^(B) so that we may know him who is true.^(C) And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.^(D)

¹⁰ That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God,^(A) who is the Savior of all people,^(B) and especially of those who believe.

¹⁹ that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.^(A) And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

¹² Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”^(A)

John Testifies About Jesus

²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,^(A) who takes away the sin of the world!^(B)

⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him,^(A) “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.^{(B) 69} We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”^(C)

¹¹ As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”^{[a](A) 12} For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile^(B)—the same Lord is Lord of all^(C) and richly blesses all who call on him, ¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord^(D) will be saved.”^[b](E)
