³⁸ I sent you to reap what you didn’t labour for; others have laboured, and you have benefited from^[a] their labour.’

³⁹ Now many Samaritans^(A) from that town believed in him because of what the woman said^[b] when she testified,^(B) ‘He told me everything I ever did.’ ⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him,^(C) they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there for two days.
