³¹ Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi,^(A) eat something.”

³⁸ Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”

They said, “Rabbi”^(A) (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

³³ Then food was set before him, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say.”

“Then tell us,” Laban said.

³⁰ He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”^(A)

³¹ They replied, “Believe^(B) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved^(C)—you and your household.”^{(D) 32} Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. ³³ At that hour of the night^(E) the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.^{(F) 34} The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he^(G) was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.

⁷ they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.^(A)
