²⁹ “Come, see a Man ^(A)who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”

¹⁷ And the Spirit and ^(A)the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” ^(B)And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. ^25 [a]And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report ^(A)that God is truly among you.

²⁵ The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah ^(A)is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, ^(B)He will tell us all things.”

¹⁷ The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”

Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ ¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

⁴¹ He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the ^[a]Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus.

Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of ^[b]Jonah. ^(A)You shall be called Cephas” (which is translated, ^[c]A Stone).

Philip and Nathanael

⁴³ The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found ^(B)Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” ⁴⁴ Now ^(C)Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip found ^(D)Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom ^(E)Moses in the law, and also the ^(F)prophets, wrote—Jesus ^(G)of Nazareth, the ^(H)son of Joseph.”

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, ^(I)“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”

Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, ^(J)an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

⁴⁸ Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, ^(K)You are the Son of God! You are ^(L)the King of Israel!”

³¹ And ^(A)many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”

²⁶ But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. ^(A)Do the rulers know indeed that this is ^[a]truly the Christ?

²³ And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the ^(A)Son of David?”
