²⁷ Just then ^(A)his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, “What do you seek?” or, “Why are you talking with her?” ²⁸ So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, ²⁹ “Come, see a man ^(B)who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?” ³⁰ They went out of the town and were coming to him.

³¹ Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, ^(C)“Rabbi, eat.” ³² But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” ³³ So the disciples said to one another, ^(D)“Has anyone brought him something to eat?” ³⁴ Jesus said to them, ^(E)“My food is ^(F)to do the will of him who sent me and ^(G)to accomplish his work.

Witnesses to Jesus

^30 (A)“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and ^(B)my judgment is just, because ^(C)I seek not my own will ^(D)but the will of him who sent me.

³⁸ For ^(A)I have come down from heaven, not to do ^(B)my own will but ^(C)the will of him ^(D)who sent me.

⁵⁰ Yet ^(A)I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge.

^37 (A)If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me;

³¹ but I do ^(A)as the Father has commanded me, ^(B)so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
