¹⁵ The woman said to him, “Sir,^[a] give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”^(A)

³⁴ They said to him, “Sir,^[a] give us this bread always.”^(A)

⁵ For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit^[a] set their minds on the things of the Spirit.^[b](A)

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(A)

² since you have given him authority over all people,^[a] to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.^{(A) 3} And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.^(B)

²⁶ Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate your fill of the loaves.^(A)

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true;^[a] and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.^(A)

³ You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, in order to spend what you get on your pleasures.^(A)

¹⁴ Those who are unspiritual^[a] do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.^(A)
