Jesus and the Woman of Samaria

4 Now when Jesus^[a] learned that the Pharisees had heard, “Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John”^(A)

²⁶ They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing, and all are going to him.”^(A)

²² After this Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea, and he spent some time there with them and baptized.

⁵ For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’s sake.^(A)

⁴⁷ The first man was from the earth, made of dust; the second man is^[a] from heaven.^(A)

⁸ and which none of the rulers of this age understood, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

³⁶ You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ—he is Lord of all.^(A)

¹⁶ On his robe and on his thigh he has a name inscribed, “King of kings and Lord of lords.”^(A)

Warning against Partiality

2 My brothers and sisters, do not claim the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory while showing partiality.^(A)

¹¹ to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah,^[a] the Lord.^(A)
