Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman

4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John^(A)—

²⁶ They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi,^(A) that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified^(B) about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”

John Testifies Again About Jesus

²² After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.^(A)

⁵ For what we preach is not ourselves,^(A) but Jesus Christ as Lord,^(B) and ourselves as your servants^(C) for Jesus’ sake.

⁴⁷ The first man was of the dust of the earth;^(A) the second man is of heaven.^(B)

⁸ None of the rulers of this age^(A) understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.^(B)

³⁶ You know the message^(A) God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news^(B) of peace^(C) through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.^(D)

¹⁶ On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:^(A)

Favoritism Forbidden

2 My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious^(A) Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.^(B)

¹¹ Today in the town of David a Savior^(A) has been born to you; he is the Messiah,^(B) the Lord.^(C)
