3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying.
26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled.
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

El nuevo nacimiento
3 Había un hombre de los fariseos, llamado Nicodemo(A), prominente[a](B) entre los judíos. 2 Este vino a Jesús[b] de noche y le dijo: Rabí(C), sabemos que has venido de Dios como maestro, porque nadie puede hacer las señales[c](D) que tú haces si Dios no está con él(E). 3 Respondió Jesús y le dijo: En verdad, en verdad te digo que el que no nace de nuevo[d](F) no puede ver el reino de Dios(G). 4 Nicodemo le dijo*: ¿Cómo puede un hombre nacer siendo ya viejo? ¿Acaso puede entrar por segunda vez en el vientre de su madre y nacer? 5 Jesús respondió: En verdad, en verdad te digo que el que no nace de agua y del Espíritu(H) no puede entrar en el reino de Dios(I). 6 Lo que es nacido de la carne, carne es(J), y lo que es nacido del Espíritu, espíritu es. 7 No te asombres de que te haya dicho: «Os es necesario nacer de nuevo[e]». 8 El viento sopla donde quiere, y oyes su sonido, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni adónde va(K); así es todo aquel que es nacido del Espíritu. 9 Respondió Nicodemo y le dijo: ¿Cómo puede ser esto? 10 Jesús respondió y le dijo: Tú eres maestro(L) de Israel, ¿y no entiendes estas cosas? 11 En verdad, en verdad te digo que hablamos lo que sabemos(M) y damos testimonio de lo que hemos visto, pero vosotros no recibís nuestro testimonio(N). 12 Si os he hablado de las cosas terrenales, y no creéis, ¿cómo creeréis si os hablo de las celestiales? 13 Nadie ha subido al cielo(O), sino el que bajó del cielo(P), es decir, el Hijo del Hombre(Q) que está en el cielo[f]. 14 Y como Moisés levantó la serpiente en el desierto(R), así es necesario que sea levantado el Hijo del Hombre(S), 15 para que todo aquel que cree, tenga en Él[g] vida eterna(T).
El amor de Dios
16 Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo(U), que dio a su Hijo unigénito[h](V), para que todo aquel que cree en Él, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna(W). 17 Porque Dios no envió(X) a su Hijo al mundo para juzgar al mundo, sino para que el mundo sea salvo por Él(Y). 18 El que cree en Él no es condenado[i](Z); pero el que no cree, ya ha sido condenado[j], porque no ha creído en el nombre del unigénito[k] Hijo de Dios(AA). 19 Y este es el juicio: que la luz vino al mundo(AB), y los hombres amaron más las tinieblas que la luz, pues sus acciones eran malas(AC). 20 Porque todo el que hace lo malo odia la luz(AD), y no viene a la luz para que sus acciones no sean expuestas. 21 Pero el que practica la verdad(AE) viene a la luz, para que sus acciones sean manifestadas que han sido hechas en Dios.
Testimonio final de Juan el Bautista
22 Después de esto vino Jesús con sus discípulos(AF) a la tierra de Judea, y estaba allí con ellos, y bautizaba(AG). 23 Juan también bautizaba en Enón, cerca de Salim, porque allí había mucha agua[l]; y muchos venían y eran bautizados. 24 Porque Juan todavía no había sido metido en la cárcel(AH). 25 Surgió entonces una discusión entre los discípulos de Juan y un judío acerca de la purificación(AI). 26 Y vinieron a Juan y le dijeron: Rabí(AJ), mira, el que estaba contigo al otro lado del Jordán(AK), de quien diste testimonio(AL), está bautizando y todos van a Él. 27 Respondió Juan y dijo: Un hombre no puede recibir nada si no le es dado del cielo(AM). 28 Vosotros mismos me sois testigos de que dije: «Yo no soy el Cristo[m](AN), sino que he sido enviado delante de Él». 29 El que tiene la novia es el novio(AO), pero el amigo del novio, que está allí y le oye, se alegra en gran manera con la voz del novio. Y por eso, este gozo mío se ha completado(AP). 30 Es necesario que Él crezca, y que yo disminuya.
31 El que procede de arriba está por encima de todos; el que es de la tierra, procede[n] de la tierra y habla de la tierra(AQ). El que procede del cielo está sobre todos(AR). 32 Lo que Él ha visto y oído, de eso da testimonio; y nadie recibe su testimonio(AS). 33 El que ha recibido su testimonio ha certificado(AT) esto: que Dios es veraz. 34 Porque aquel a quien Dios ha enviado(AU) habla las palabras de Dios, pues Él da el Espíritu(AV) sin medida[o]. 35 El Padre ama al Hijo y ha entregado todas las cosas en su mano(AW). 36 El que cree en el Hijo tiene vida eterna(AX); pero el que no obedece[p](AY) al Hijo no verá la vida, sino que la ira de Dios permanece sobre él.

3 May isang lalake nga sa mga Fariseo, na nagngangalang (A)Nicodemo, isang (B)pinuno ng mga Judio:
2 Ito rin ay naparoon sa kaniya nang gabi, at sa kaniya'y nagsabi, Rabi, nalalaman naming ikaw ay isang guro na nagbuhat sa Dios; sapagka't (C)walang makagagawa ng mga tanda na iyong ginagawa, maliban na kung sumasa kaniya ang Dios.
3 Sumagot si Jesus at sa kaniya'y sinabi, Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa iyo, (D)Maliban na ang tao'y ipanganak na muli, ay hindi siya makakakita ng kaharian ng Dios.
4 Sinabi sa kaniya ni Nicodemo, Paanong maipanganganak ang tao kung siya'y matanda na? makapapasok baga siyang bilang ikalawa sa tiyan ng kaniyang ina, at ipanganak?
5 Sumagot si Jesus, Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa iyo, Maliban na ang tao'y ipanganak (E)ng tubig at ng (F)Espiritu, ay hindi siya makapapasok sa kaharian ng Dios.
6 (G)Ang ipinanganak ng laman ay laman nga; at ang ipinanganak ng Espiritu ay espiritu nga.
7 Huwag kang magtaka sa aking sinabi sa iyo, Kinakailangan ngang kayo'y ipanganak na muli.
8 Humihihip ang hangin kung saan niya ibig, at naririnig mo ang kaniyang ugong, nguni't hindi mo nalalaman kung saan nanggagaling, at kung saan naparoroon: gayon ang bawa't ipinanganak ng Espiritu.
9 Sumagot si Nicodemo at sa kaniya'y sinabi, (H)Paanong pangyayari ng mga bagay na ito?
10 Sumagot si Jesus at sa kaniya'y sinabi, Ikaw ang guro sa Israel, at hindi mo nauunawa ang mga bagay na ito?
11 Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa iyo, Ang nalalaman namin ay sinasalita namin, at ang aming nakita ay pinatototohanan namin; at (I)hindi ninyo tinanggap ang aming patotoo.
12 Kung sinabi ko sa inyo ang mga bagay na nauukol sa lupa at hindi ninyo pinaniniwalaan, paanong paniniwalaan ninyo kung sabihin ko sa inyo ang mga bagay na nauukol sa langit?
13 At (J)walang umakyat sa langit, kundi (K)ang nanggaling sa langit, sa makatuwid baga'y ang Anak ng tao, na nasa langit.
14 At (L)kung paanong itinaas ni Moises sa ilang ang ahas, ay gayon kinakailangang (M)itaas ang Anak ng tao;
15 Upang ang sinomang sumampalataya ay (N)magkaroon sa kaniya ng buhay na walang hanggan.
16 Sapagka't gayon na lamang (O)ang pagsinta ng Dios sa sanglibutan, na (P)ibinigay niya ang kaniyang (Q)bugtong na Anak, upang ang sinomang sa kaniya'y sumampalataya ay huwag mapahamak, kundi magkaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan.
17 Sapagka't hindi sinugo ng Dios (R)ang Anak sa sanglibutan upang hatulan ang sanglibutan; (S)kundi upang ang sanglibutan ay maligtas sa pamamagitan niya.
18 Ang sumasampalataya sa kaniya ay (T)hindi hinahatulan; ang hindi sumasampalataya ay hinatulan na, sapagka't hindi siya sumampalataya sa pangalan ng bugtong na Anak ng Dios.
19 At ito ang kahatulan, (U)na naparito ang ilaw sa sanglibutan, at inibig pa ng mga tao (V)ang kadiliman kay sa ilaw; sapagka't masasama ang kanilang mga gawa.
20 Sapagka't ang (W)bawa't isa na gumagawa ng masama ay napopoot sa ilaw, at hindi lumalapit sa ilaw, upang huwag masaway ang kaniyang mga gawa.
21 Datapuwa't ang gumagawa ng katotohanan ay lumalapit sa ilaw, upang mahayag na ang kaniyang mga gawa ay ginawa sa Dios.
22 Pagkatapos ng mga bagay na ito ay nagsiparoon si Jesus at ang kaniyang mga alagad sa lupain ng Judea; at doon siya tumira na kasama nila, (X)at bumabautismo.
23 At bumabautismo rin naman si Juan sa Enon na malapit sa Salim, sapagka't doo'y maraming tubig: at sila'y nagsiparoon, at nangabautismuhan.
24 Sapagka't hindi pa ipinapasok sa bilangguan si (Y)Juan.
25 Nagkaroon nga ng isang pakikipagtalo ang mga alagad ni Juan sa isang Judio tungkol sa (Z)paglilinis.
26 At sila'y nagparoon kay Juan, at sa kaniya'y sinabi, Rabi, yaong kasama (AA)mo sa dako pa roon ng Jordan, (AB)na binigyan mong patotoo, narito, siya'y bumabautismo, at ang lahat ng mga tao'y nagsisiparoon sa kaniya.
27 Sumagot si Juan at sinabi, Hindi makatatanggap ng anoman ang isang tao, malibang ito'y ipinagkaloob sa kaniya mula sa langit.
28 Kayo man ay magsisisaksi sa akin, na aking sinabi, (AC)Hindi ako ang Cristo, kundi, na (AD)ako'y sinugo sa unahan niya.
29 Ang nagtatangkilik sa kasintahang babae (AE)ay ang kasintahang lalake: datapuwa't ang (AF)kaibigan ng kasintahang lalake, na nakatayo at nakikinig sa kaniya, ay nagagalak na lubos dahil sa tinig ng kasintahang lalake: ito ngang aking kaligayahan ay naganap.
30 (AG)Siya'y kinakailangang dumakila, ngunit ako'y kinakailangang bumaba.
31 (AH)Ang nanggagaling sa itaas ay sumasaibabaw ng lahat: (AI)ang galing sa lupa ay taga lupa nga, at ang ukol sa lupa ang sinasalita niya: ang nanggagaling sa langit ay sumasaibabaw ng lahat.
32 At kaniyang (AJ)nakita at (AK)narinig, ay siyang pinatototohanan niya; at (AL)walang taong tumatanggap ng kaniyang patotoo.
33 Ang tumatanggap ng kaniyang patotoo ay naglagay dito ng kaniyang tatak, na ang (AM)Dios ay totoo.
34 Sapagka't ang sinugo ng Dios ay nagsasalita ng mga salita ng Dios: sapagka't hindi niya ibinibigay ang Espiritu sa pamamagitan ng sukat.
35 (AN)Sinisinta ng Ama ang Anak, at inilagay sa kaniyang kamay ang lahat ng mga bagay.
36 (AO)Ang sumasampalataya sa Anak ay may buhay na walang hanggan; ngunit ang hindi tumatalima sa Anak ay hindi makakakita ng buhay, kundi ang poot ng Dios ay sumasa kaniya.
