²⁰ For everyone who does evil hates the light and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed. ²¹ But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.”

⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie and don’t tell the truth. ⁷ But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son, cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

⁴ One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him.

¹⁸ My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. ¹⁹ And by this we know that we are of the truth and persuade our hearts before him,
